Seeing this makes me realize Backrooms is going to burnout before Kane makes his sequel. It's pretty mainstream now whereas before it was an internet niche. People will meme slop it into the ground and nobody will care to see more of it.

nigga its been mainstream zoomerslop for like 5 years now

getting rid of the tacky wallpaper ruins it. Its also supposed to be found footage so the lower fidelity is better but I guess you can't really make a feature film that looks like its shot on a camcorder these days
>>
>>221017174
You can though, nostalgia is massive and it being found footage was part of the comeback. I still don't understand why he didn't go with a found footage movie, it could've been the next revival of the genre.

>>

Still don't understand why zoomers are so spooked by an empty building. The only thing that scares me is being in the woods at night in Ontario after my wendigo encounter in 2017. Being in a building is comfy to me in comparison.

>>

Ever heard of uncanny valley? The whole point is, everything is clearly off. What was familiar no longer is. And despite clearly looking like a regular office building, you know for a fact ti's not.
>>

>Ontario after my wendigo encounter in 2017

Was it a Wendigo or just a jeet?
>>
It's a 1-and-done kinda concept, but that's impossible in THE_CURRENT_YEAR
>>
>>221021691
But it's a literal photo of a regular office building.
>>
>>221020382
Backrooms is also the way it is portrayed because the original photo had the wrong white balance kek.
>>
>>221016895
It won't if the sequel comes out within the next year and a half and isn't somehow really bad

Disneyslop, especially Disney star wars
>>
>>221023260
He's already said he's yet again not going to write it and is hiring a writer, so who knows at this point. A big question is whether he's under exclusivity and is still allowed to post Backrooms shit on his YouTube or if A24 now owns the IP.
>>
>>221023281
This. A24 is still slop, but there's far worse slop out there and Disney Star Wars is probably the current winner for that.

>>
>>221021785
Kane has extended lore for the thing so a sequel for this wouldn't be just a monetary push to capitalize on it's success., that's just a logical reason to make another. Plus they built a massive practical set so I'm sure they wanna get more use out of it.
>>
>>221023764
>streamingslop
So everything in the last 6 years then? That works for me, I personally don't watch anything made after 1995 anyways
>>
>>221023845
He's also deviated from that lore quite a bit and has abandoned other aspects of it entirely (including during the original YouTube run). As for the set, it's not really that impressive, it's probably the most basic horror movie set ever made since it's literally just basic cheap office materials.

Tragic
>>
>>221023855
no, stuff made for and released exclusively on streaming platforms, don't be dense
>>
>>221024051
Yeah he keeps saying everything is still connected, but I have my doubts. It's too wide now so reigning it all in with lore will prolly take a long time. As for the set, you prefer bluescreen/greenscreen rooms with nothing in them, eh?
>>
>>221024087
Found Footage 2 has the best null zone and lifeform instance.
>>
>>221024138
>As for the set, you prefer bluescreen/greenscreen rooms with nothing in them, eh?
That wasn't my point, it was that it's not difficult or expensive to make that set and isn't some massive task like some people seem to think it is. Offices like that are made on an absolute budget and there's no doubt that set is on the same budget or far less as it doesn't even need to withstand time or abuse from workers.

How get Wasian gf in fridge?
>>
>>221016473
The movie was pretty good but every further explanation and reveal made it less engaging. As much as I give zoomers shit for being scared of empty rooms, I thought the movie was at its best when it was taking advantage of the scope of area and the shadows to build tension that rarely ever got broken.
>>
>>221025819
I mean, did it really explain anything?
I tought it was clear we still don't know a single fuck about the backrooms beyond the fact it's looking at the earth and copying us.
>>
>>221025862
Explain maybe isn't the right word. Revealing it to be a known phenomena that some strange group is researching was a pointless inclusion.
>>
>>221025819
Big agree, the writing on the wall short scene does a good job giving you all the info you need but later on when they just show you captain crunch, all the tension deflates
>>
>>221025948
Ah, understandable, i was a fan of the youtube series, so i didn't truly mind the existence of Async, and actually found it refreshing how they're consistently portrayed as just as lost as the average person, even when things seem to be going well.
>>
>>221024066
They entered his mold cave.
>>
>>221016473
The 2022 short by far, innovative enough and it didn't overstay it's welcome.
>>
>>221016842
That was actually scary because it's just weird shit, and that's one thing AI can do right accidentally.

In the movie 'The Backrooms' were a little too curated - and fuck that mural - that shit was so basic bitch and perfunctory. Should have just put his handprint on the wall and wrote 'The cake is a lie".
>>
>>221023845
That was some Alice in Wonderland bullshit that part. Actually would have redeemed itself if what I thought was going to happen actually happened.

I though that nig was going to get to the door and you have to turn all three smooth door knobs at once to open the door. How do you do that in a hurry when you've only got two hands, (if you're not an OF whore I mean)? Would have actually provided some tension and suspense while faggot in weird angle and position tried to twist the theird one with his forearms while twisting the other two at the same time.

Nope. Just try them all until you find the right one. Well that was easy. Gyped.
>>
>>221016895
It's already burned out. The movie was the culmination

>>221023315
its like "2 guys and a crazy dream" burgerslop (gastropubslop) joints
no matter how cliche its still somehow leagues better than wendys or applebees or even fucking five guys
>>
>>221029143
The fast food shithole will actually give you the burger this trimester tho.
>>
the director should just do a house of leaves adaptation instead of more backrooms slop
>>
>>221016473
I like the original one mainly because it keeps the
>god save you if you hear something wander around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you
part which 2026 lacks
you don't know what's lurking around whether it be a person or something else, that adds to the mystery of the place
adding some giant robot kills the idea of "you're not alone in this place" which is what makes it scary in the first place
another case of overexplaining something which gen z do alot of when it comes to horror, every single detail has to be explained or else they don't get it there cant be mystery or suspense

house of leaves isn't as good a story as the backrooms movie.
