Movie could've been kino if it weren't for Tommy Lee Jones' character
>>
>>221016631
>>221016712
It should've been more about Two-Face. By cutting out the crucial scene of Dent's origin in the courthouse it takes away his connection with Batman
>>
>>221016631
It's good because it's cartoonish and silly like the cartoon it's based on. If you think it's bad because it isn't muh serious Nolanslop then you need to grow up and get some pussy.
>>
>>221016725
Two Face didn't fit the film's tone. The guy is supposed to be a once famed attorney who suffered a severe burn on half his face. There's a reason his character never appeared in the 60s batman show
>>

I thought so too, especially with the Oingo Boingo intro scene. "Bright lights...biiig titties!"

Honestly, Forever isn't far removed from the retarded, noncommittal almost-camp that everyone hated in B&R. Like >>221016712 said, Two-face isn't even really a character, the action scenes might as well be out of the Superfriends cartoon and the script is dumb, lazy contrived scenarios with a few "okay now we're being serious" scenes that don't really match the dumb overall tone. It's like an episode of the Adam West show where no one involved was in on the joke.

But it was a huge hit anyway, and my theory is that it's because of Carrey. At the time he was a bigger star than everyone else combined and once he was cast it became a Jim Carrey movie. And Jim Carrey movies were always dumb, so when it turned out to be a retarded cartoon no one got mad about it because that's kind of what was supposed to happen. No one else got the joke, but he got it so hard it made up for everyone else being out of the loop.
>>
>>221016725
>batmans internal struggle on if he should continue being Batman or live a normal life with Chase
>Dick's indecision on if he should kill Two-Face in revenge or become what Bruce is training him to be.

Yup. All that was missing was a proper villain motivation besides two chucklefucks trying to out-crazy each other
>>
>>221016761
The entire movie is about duality. Even the love interest is “ Chase Meridian”, as in trying to find a balance .
>>
>>221016631
>>221016712
kilmer doesn't get enough shit, love him, but he's giving one of the most underwhelming performances of his career in forever.
>>
>>221016969
HoIy shit
>>
>>221016791

As the original is literally a perfect film, your opinion as stated is plainly impossible. By definition, the best that another film could hope to achieve is to be equal in quality, which in itself is a very tall order when one is talking about absolute perfection. It has its charms, but the sequel plainly misses this very high mark.
>>
>>221016993
Yeah he's very wooden as Batman, like it was just a paycheck to him and he had no enthusiasm for the role.
>>
>>221016631
The director was gay, and that ruined the entire movie because he insisted on making everything sassy. Why do you think there’s bat nipples in this fucking movie? Why is Nigma ruining around in tights? It’s such an uncanny gay soft core vibe when you see the movie knowing what the director was into kek.

He thought he was getting to make something like the two Burton films since it was a direct sequel to them and Burton was still involved as a producer so he signed on in good faith without having read the completed script. Then later he found out it was going to be a complete 180 stylistically and the whole thing was just going to be a dumb toy commercial with no depth. So he went through the motions but didn't actually give a fuck and got out of it as soon as he could.

It was certainly ambitious, and I liked how they made it more of a psychological film about Banner's internal struggle. Plus Eric Bana's performance is excellent. But I hated the split screen gimmick and the stupid hulk dogs

The Hulk dogs were a bad compromise. They felt there wasn't enough action but there wasn't room for another villain so they invented some creatures just to be quick cannon fodder. But it was a really fucking goofy moment in an otherwise (mostly) serious film.

I remember there were lots of shitposts on AICN and Fark.com about NICK NOLTE FEEDS SCARVES TO HULK DOGS

>>
>>221016939
Forever is dumb and fun but it also has a plot, characters, and conflict

B&R forgets all of these and just goes hard on camp value because the camp aspects of Forever were very popular, but it was the wrong path to take

Ruined by being childish to appeal to children.

Incredible cast that could have made an amazing serious Batman better than the Dark Knight.

No, you listen. The film's run time is about 80 minutes. She's in the black/purple screaming hell chase for only about eight minutes or so (retrograde), and the Last Supper (which only lasts a few minutes) does this crazy thing where they recycle the weird shots (Leatherface sliding down the table toward her, etc), heightening the madness. I've still never done a shot-for-shot breakdown of the recycling but it establishes a climactic delirium. Chop top scratching his plate and Dennis Hopper playing with chainsaws (although fun) just doesn't compare. Even the final twirl by the girl with the chainsaw is a pathetic redux of the indelible final image.

You've chosen to ignore the building dread for your silly remark. Unlike its sequel, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a perfect film.

Because he did exactly what they all should have been doing and went full camp. Got the Joke, had fun with it, hammed it up properly. So did Thurman for the most part. Whereas Clooney or Silverstone or O'Donnell can't seem to decide if they're having fun or the worst time of their life. They could have been deadpan if they didn't want to play it straight but absolutely none of them are doing deadpan or if they are they suck at it.

Honorable mention to the guy who played Woodrue, though. He also understood the assignment. He gave an interview where se said after reading the script he realized it was impossible to take seriously so he just went full silent movie villain over the top

If something was new hot shit it would get played constantly so if you just watched MTV with any regularity you would see it. Especially something like a movie soundtrack where it was more or less a kind of viral marketing. The movie studios would pay for play just like they used to with radio stations.

Then outside of primetime they would have more genre-specific shows so if you wanted to see an older Megadeath video or something you would watch headbanger's ball where it was all metal videos. And then really at night they would just show random videos playlist-style with no particular theme or host or anything.

You could never guarantee seeing something specific if it was older but they cycled back around to everything sooner or later. I don't recall ever *not* seeing a video I wanted to see. You saw everything eventually, just not on demand. Kind of a lootbox vibe to it.
>>
>>221017322
I would call into question the veracity of this story but both Keanu reeves and Dakota fell for the same trick. Dakota talked to lizzie Olsen and joined not knowing it wasnt going to be a marvel movie and keano made some verbal agreement for that taxicab thriller.
>>
>>221019209
there were channels like The Box where you could call in to request a specific video.

It was fun at how terrible it was in every aspect of movie making. They heard dragon ball was popular with kids and thought it meant toddlers. The rewriting lore unnecessarily is classic suits having no idea how to handle so.ething with originality.

A cure for wellness is fucking kino but it bombed hard because it's just too fucking weird for plebs. It has some incredibly uncomfortable scenes, is kind a hybrid horror / fantasy / sci-fi film and has enough titties and weird sexual stuff to not be remotely okay for general audiences.

I think Verbinski knew he was making a niche product but he had enough clout after the Pirates movies to get the budget he needed even if the project didn't really warrant it. I like movies where studios get tricked into spending a fortune on stuff that's really not commercially viable
>>
>>221016783
it’s good for what it aimed to be. a movie about a man dressed as a bat fighting equally as comical villains. this idea is juvenile in itself and just because you like the nolan trilogy doesn’t make it any less so.
>>
>>221016631
Tommy Lee Jones singlehandedly ruined this film by being a sperg. I respect it because it's what I would've done. But if you're in a batman film, you're whole job is to sanction buffonery. In fact, you should be cosigning buffonery.
