The company is god down there, maybe they turned him over to the mob in order to save money. If that happened, he's dead for sure. If the mob just happened to arrive on the plane that day, I'd say his chances are pretty good. There were a lot of armed men in the cafe who wouldn't want a stranger to kill Scanlon right in front of them.
