The Hays Code was still in effect but TV had drawn away a lot of moviegoers so to keep audiences interested they resorted to a lot of gimmicks like Technicolor and neglected the scripts so a lot of terribly cheesy musicals resulted.

The 1950s being a bad decade for Hollywood is a myth pushed by pretentious fags obsessed with trash like the French New Wave and the New Hollywood Era. It was the peak of Hollywood westerns, Film Noir, musicals, romantic comedies, and you had great directors like Alfred Hitchcock, John Huston, Billy Wilder, Otto Preminger, Anthony Mann, David Lean, and John Ford, just to name a few, at the peak of their creative powers.

tl;dr the 1950s ruled

>Time to watch a true classic
>It's extremely cringe and gay
Many such cases.
