was it kino?
>>221017820yes and people only hated it because it was popular
It's good but I preferred Lady Vengeance.
>>221017820Yes, I remember first seeing the poster with the guy having the pistol against his head and thinking this is gonna be kino, and it was
>>221017820No. It's mediocre at best. The Yellow Sea mogs it completely.
It's very stylish but it's complete nonsense.Typical for a manga adaptation.Lady Vengeance is a much better film.>>221017880Yellow Sea was a good movie completely ruined by the use of handheld cameras. There's no reason a scene where 2 people are sitting down eating some noodles in a quiet cafe should be shot on handheld cameras that are shaking like there's an earthquake happening. It's fucking stupid, and the entire movie is like that.Thank god he learned about tripods/steadycams when he made his next film The Wailing. Coz it's one of the best looking movies ever filmed.
>>221017921Is that from fireworks? Pretty good yeah but oldboy was a better
>>221017971NTA but no, Kitano's 90s output absolutely wipes the floor with Oldboy.
>>221017966>Yellow Sea was a good movie completely ruined by the use of handheld cameras. That's the amazing thing, though, no? It wasn't actually ruined. He managed to make a good movie in spite of the enormous surplus of visual noise.
>>221017820Lady vengeance is better
>>221018000Care to recommend a couple of good Kitano films? I loved Hanabi/Fireworks but I seem him just as a "comedy man" (it is my ignorance)
>>221017820I still don't get why he cut his tongue out
Has one of the shittest fight scenes in history. There are genuine retards out there that think the hallway sequence is realistic.
>>221018241It's cool and that's enough
>>221017820Nope. It’s an overrated on the internet meme movie. It was one of those movies where I felt as though I had literally just wasted the last 2 hours after watching.
>>221018228As penance for having had a loose tongue. The story is retarded, anon.
>>221018156Because he told his friend that the bad guy and his sister were fucking before leaving to a different city. Then his friend told everyone at high school (it's funny because he tells his friend to "not tell anyone" in the movie and the friend did), the sister got bullied and jumped off a bridge. So he cut off his tongue because "he talked too much" and to save his daughterwife from knowing she was fucking her old man. Or you could say, his Old boy.(sorry, long time, can't remember gook names)
It’s quite possible the only Kino Korean film I’ve ever seen. Right up there with the great modern Japanese kinos like Cure and Love Exposure.
>>221018352Pleb.
>>221018123>>221018156Disregard this bot. Violent Cop should not be top priority and Outrage can be skipped entirely. Watch Kids Return, Sonatine, A Scene At The Sea, Kikujiro or Boiling Point. There are other good ones but those are the best.
>>221018365Most people are
>>221018371>A Scene At The SeaHad this on repeat while staring at a wall when I finished that moviehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gf5lwx0ats
>>221018241No one thinks it's realistic. It's just shot in an interesting way.
>>22101835210/10 bait.
>>221018241>There are genuine retards out there that think the hallway sequence is realistic. It's because they were told that it was a good scene (which is was) and they can't conceive something being good and not being realistic at the same time
>>221017820It's my favorite movie, though I think the beginning is significantly better than the end.
>>221018408>Parasite slopParasite is an excellent film.
>>221018352Now that you mention it it probably is, maybe the other films in the trilogy and welcome to dongkmangol qualify but most of their stuff is kinda meh
>>221018408Wasn’t a big fan of I Saw the Devil but I haven’t seen it since I was like 14
>>221018452it was, until it got mainstream
>>221018452It’s well made but incredibly shallow anti capitalist slop. And I’m a social democrat.
>>221018490What kind of critique does it have against capitalism that would not apply to any stratified economic system?
>>221018527Idk. It was really fucking vague in its fiscal politics but somehow still felt weirdly preachy. I mostly just found it kind of trite from a character and thematic perspective. Had some fun moments though.
>>221018398Nice. I love anything Japanese that uses late '80s/early '90s synths. I recommend Ocean Waves if you don't mind anime teen romance films.
>y-y-you wouldn't call incest stupid if I kidnapped you and introduced you to your daughter and you fell in love with her not knowing she was your daughter, I'm very smart
>>221017883The american remake is awful and a travesty that spike Lee made. It made lizzie Olsen suffer and I hate him for that. Same guy that directed the 25th hor ruined this film. The best thing to come from it was the Ralph the movie maker review that step by step destroys the movie, hilarious.
