Is Network still relevant?
>>
>>221019744
It’s small potatoes today. We’ve fallen so far as a species.

Not really, in the same vein that the Truman Show isn't relevant anymore.
>>
Nobody knows this movie for anything other than that scene.

I only know this movie from Zeitgeist. I then watched The Network and didn't understand a thing.

Imagine Bari Weiss explaining the Jews to poor Peter, we're not going to see that anytime soon

True but the boardroom scene is so much better
>>
>>221019744
Yes
>>
>>221019910
It's basically the same plot as the 15 Million Credits episode of Black Mirror

It fits the message of the film doesn't it?

The themes predate its era and extend all the way back to the old yellow journalism days of the 1800s. Those themes are still relevant today and will be as long as we exist as a news consuming society, but the machine that creates that news looks increasingly different today, so a lot more imagination and abstraction is going to be needed to see modern relevance in those themes.

It's forever relevant because it's a niche meme. Nothing else will ever communicate that exact meaning or moment in time.

Watch SHOOTER with Marky Mark. Ned Beatty reprises his role as the evil pig person. He explains it in modern terms.
