Today I watched He-Man, think I finally get it. The movie had:

Adult failure
Disappointing parental/adult figures
Existentialism
Wagekekking

In short, Middle Class Problems.

Some not all of that going on in TLJ, shame they had to make Luke OOC and shove in one insufferable woman to get that point across. But seriously, on this planet with 8 billion people are there really that many miserable fucks waking up every morning wishing they could just skip to the end of the work day or the weekend?

People like the Luke shit because they actively don't remember Luke from the OT, and get him confused with literal cartoon action heroes. They think he was He-Man. Or Optimus Prime. Fighting Vader every week, and saving the day. So to them, Luke growing up bitter, and having regrets is "deep." It's just literally misremembering a character who already had plenty of depth and conflict.

They "liked" it because it ruined something people they view as beneath them or as their enemies enjoyed you stupid fuck
