Can Star Wars recover from this?
Yeah, the Ryan Gosling movie will make 1 billion because everyone wants more Hail Mary space Gosling.
It was an utterly inoffensive summer kids movie. It didn't do any damage to the franchise but it also didn't do anything to help it.
>>221025047i stopped watching any star wars period after last jedi it sucked so fucking bad
>>221025047Nobody will remember it in a year. It won't have negative impact, just 0 impact at all
Probably better for everyone if it doesn't
>>221025098>>221025123You guys are coping
>>221025047As far as i‘m concerned, Star Wars is dead.
>>221025047It already made it's money back. Not much but enough. I'm thinking there probably won't be another Star Wars movie for years, if ever. They'll probably stick to series.
>>221025127They are right. You can’t kill something that is already long dead. You’re the only one that still cares. Grow up.
>>221025047Only if it goes away for 10 years.
>>221025207
>>221025047>hasn't thought about the movie in three weeks>checks worldwide gross because this thread reminded him>less than 300 milly with new weekly gross falling fastDamn. and nope, Star Wars is likely done after this spate of projects. The movie may be mindless pap rather than downright offensive like the sequels, but the problem is the franchise is no longer a draw because disney fucked up relaunching it for the next gen. Zoomers and gen alpha literally could not give less of a shit about star wars and the pissed millenials won't be passing it on to their spawn like their gen x and baby boomer parents did for them. Dead ip and this movie has only increased the necrosis.
No one gives a shit about Star Wars anymore. If Starfighter didn't have Reddit Gosling in it no one would care at all.
>>221025107That would be force awakens for me. Was on thin ice with the prequels and that was the last straw.
>>221025047Between this and Masters of the Universe, I think it just shows that audiences are sick of franchise rehashes and reboots. I wouldn't be surprised if Spiderman underperforms this summer, the movies that are finding success over the last couple years have been standalone elevated horror.
>>221025613>Star WarsDisney killed it>He-ManNo one under the age of 40 cares>Spider-ManSuperhero fatigue set in ages ago
>>221025047women ruined star wars.
>>221026150That's wrong. Women are definitely keeping Star Wars afloat like never before. The franchise is theirs now
I was thinking this movie made the same exact mistakes SW executives / creators have been on for the past, almost 20 years. First off I haven't seen it…but…Rotta “Stinky” the hutt. debuted in theaters 2008, and nobody saw it either. Why would you greenlight more of the same?>Its Yoda and Boba Fat on an adventure after the CLONE WARS>We used a sky captain logo>another cgi heavy action movie>ellen ripley, shes like almost 80 years old.Oh wow I don’t give a shit!
>>221025086They'll probably take the yeed movies failure as the sign to reshoot and focus test the fuck out of starfighter until it's as placid and nonsensical as TRoS was
>>221026490I think the takeaway is a baby yoda puppet doesn’t have an infinite shelf life.
>>221026490…and they would probably shove something cute into Star fighter if it doesn’t test well. Or Vader’s ghost.
