Post a liminal space you'd like to see as a backroom in Backrooms 2. I'll start.
The Bathrooms
>>22102989328 days later, the first 10 minutes of it anywaystill can't quite believe they actually shot an empty london, quite a feat
>>221029936Lmao.
>>221029936A Scary Movie-like parody of the Backrooms has potential.
>>221030171now we're talks, that's horrifying
>>221029893>be yellow>have fluorescent lighting>hum ominouslywhat are some times you acted like the backrooms?

oh my GOD is that POOL and a SLIDE?
>>221029893Looks very comfy

>>221030171>Airport Backrooms>Movie theater Backrooms>Dead Mall Backrooms>Pool BathroomsYou really could mine a few sequels based purely on the novelty of different Backrooms flavors
>>221029893Yeah, no. I have zero interest in backrooms slop. The movie already missed the point in a huge way. This is one of those things that should have stayed on the internet for the sake of purity.
>>221030410isn't the space itself inconsequential? for the plot I mean, not necessarily for recognition
>>221030617This is advanced darkness. Women have no idea.
>>221030617I declare this Limnalmaxing
>>221029936at least there would be a reason to have a bathroom nigger in the movie
>>221030916I should write a script about the /x/ post where some anon said he walked into houses that had lights on and looked occupied, but no one was there, and they weren't even fully furnished. Apparently, like 3/4 of the homes in his neighborhood like that, completely fake occupied.
>>221030916
>>221030916I adore this dream-like vintage aesthetic of photography. Got any more photos like this?>>221030294I know, right? It looks supreme comfy.
>>221030916sovl
I’d love to see liminal Astroturf pitches. A roof so high it could be outdoors. The green fences/cages towering impossibly high. Infinite darkness above the glowing stadium lights. Confusing maze-like cages. Maybe a silly football man could chase you idfk. AI actually nailed it. I’ll post more because its one I find comfy.
>>221031480
>>221029936
>>221030956That's just Canada being bought by China.
>>221029893Wouldnt AI be best suited to this genre?
>>221031564Yeah but it could still be a fun movie
>>221031480I had dreams I was trying to get to the end to get the other side of the fence. Also one where there was an active match so I couldn't get through the field which led to the only exit.
>>221030526Yeah, like SCP

Just watched it, I really wish they included liminal spaces of outside environments. Kane had that in the damn web series with the city skyscrapers, but he didn't include anything similar at all in the film. Regardless, I enjoyed the focus on thematic work he'd been alluding to throughout his previous episodes, but I do think both productions suffer in quality if they're viewed separate. I imagine all the A-Sync scenes come across as pretty garish if you watch this as a standalone movie, for example>>221029893Anything different from the default office spaces and the pools, it doesn't necessarily need to be open air like I mentioned. The Christmas set piece was my favourite for that reason. I wanted to see Mary go through that giant apartment complex area, right; just clean up Kowloon a bit and throw the next characters inside, it'd be a good area
>>221029893THREAD THEME: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukw1P4aZegU>>221032078I completely agree with you that the film needed more liminal spaces of outside environments.
>>221029936>>221031540My pitch for the next big hitThe Bathrooms>a transwoman is Trans-ported to the bathrooms but it's an endless maze of rooms with only urinals and not a single stall with used tampons.

>>221031844>Something about the glow of those stadium lights when u have ocular astigmatism that gives the lights halos / bokeh rly comfy shitThere is something about being out at night in a place that is well lit but still "Dark" per se and feels safe, these are those places. Lots of space, good lighting, it feels like the place where people fall in love IMO and I'm not being facetious. Driving ranges/tennis courts etc.

>>221038833>noclipping in China sends you into an infinite fucked up version of prime era KowloonSounds awesome.
>>221039343Mary also should've gotten her own exploration montage, maybe in some brutalist concrete area to reflect her memories of her childhood home's rubble

>>221037685>>221030276>>221030207The Hanazono Room pool (officially No. 136 Hanazono Room) is an indoor swimming pool located in a penthouse apartment in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It is globally famous as an internet meme colloquially known as "That Pool" (Rei no Pūru or Ano Pūru in Japanese) due to its ubiquitous appearance as a filming backdrop.it's real xisters
>>221031480>>221031507I think the Batting Cage Rooms actually work a lot better than the Bathrooms. For Starters, Water is notoriously difficult to work with, Both on set and with CGI. In contrast, they could probably build this entire set, at scale for a quarter mill. But also, I think this would be a really great setting where they could create some very unique and anxiety inducing action sequences, again, for very cheap. They can do simple stuff, like trying to navigate the maze, while they can see aggressive monsters just behind several layers of fence, that are also trying to find their way to them. Maybe something like sports mascots, with the big heads and dopey grins, but something just seems wrong about them. Maybe some other monsters like an owl that perches ominously on top of the fence, and follows them around, but only attacks if someone tries to climb the fence. All just very cheap, low budget horror slop. and then they can afford to add another type of Backroom or 2, to make it more visually interesting, but keep the recurring threats

>>221040425>>221030207That ladder seems sub-optimally placed
Toys (1992)Most of our collective "liminal" spaces come from that movie. If you watched the movie as a child, most likely those images (wonderful photography, by the way) come from that movie.
>>221041423Yeah the dinner scene reminded me of SH
>>221030207Something something japanese porn, its my first reaction, early jav adult movies if my coomer brain recalls correctly.
We don't need to get a job, it's just the way we're wired.
>>221041423It's Silent Hill but not ruined by europeans obsessed with Silent Hill 2.
>>221038230why would you need to put chlorine in an underground pool? you only do it when its ounside and leaves and bugs and shit fall inside it
>>221033511some gay loser writer/director is gonna use this as a grand finale in a horror movie thats my prediction
>>221040425Nigger, running an img to img prompt while changing the camera perspective, and the style to "blender render" does not change the fact that this BS is clearly AI
>liminal space genre already ruined by AI sloppers
>endless AI/robotics factoryhmm

>>221030410Langoliers already did an airport. In the 90s.
>>221030956this is somewhat like that...a couple are trapped in suburbs, all neighboring houses are empty. they have to raise some sort of demonic creature that looks like a child.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivarium_(film)
>>221043203the world they are trapped in just has rows upon rows of empty houses. there is no exit. the monster is the child they must raise. it makes a high pitched screech when it wants to eat. the food they feed it is delivered in a box. i don't recall what the human couple eats. i guess the story was supposed to be antinatalist. i wonder who wrote it.movie was a huge flop. Budget €4 millionBox office $487,625
>>221043286another stupid movie by the same director.nic cage is a dork who gets trapped on a beach with some surfer bullies. he can't seem to leave this beach area. i thought the movie sucked and made no sense.
the concept of being trapped somewhere with a scary ghost or monster is scary. but how do you turn it into a full story? and does the MC survive?the 2 recent hyped up "horror" movies just seem like overly long twilight zone episodes but without any cool twists.
>>221042222The Backrooms already represent AI. Remember that Clark says in the film "The more times it remembers, the less it remembers.". That's basically an AI hallucination.>>221038833>>221039377I also think that noclipping in China sends you to Prime Era Kowloon. I mean it makes sense considering that Prime Era Kowloon was literally the most crowded place on Earth.>>221031677I miss Japan too.
>>221038230>>221042090The reason to put chlorine in pools is to prevent bacterial growth and outdoor or not sooner or later the pool will start to stink worse than chlorine.
>>221043434>I also think that noclipping in China sends you to Prime Era Kowloon.Pretty sure there's a video game about that.
