Is 80s Nostalgia finally dead? Will Hollywood stop pandering to Gen X now that Backrooms was a success?
>>
>>221034925
I hope so. Fuck the Red Letter Media Generation. Gen X are the worst.
>>
They made a Snake Eyes movie? They made a Jem movie?
>>
Can we get 90s shit next?
>>
I think there will be something as big as Stranger Things but set in the 90s.
>>
the next 20 years will be defined by millennialcore.

You might be like, omg but backrooms?! yeah, that's millennialcore. zoomers are contributing to it. they like building on the lore of that era and y2k shit.

millennials are not responsible for marvel or capeshit. that was all gen x. i would venture to say that media in general is about to have a massive transformation thanks to millennials and zoomers pushing gen x out of positions of power, especially by 2030.

>They made a Jem movie?
Everyone hated it because they stripped all the sci-fi and adventure stuff from the cartoon and made it a generic rise to stardom movie about a girl who makes singing videos that go viral.
>>
>>221035734
Ah. I see.
>>
>>221035502
I’m surprised a Street Sharks reboot hasn’t happened yet.
>>
>>221034925
We can only hope.

>pandering to Gen X now that Backrooms was a success
The aesthetic of the Backrooms is intrinsically tied to the late 80s and early 90s
>>
Transformers One was pretty good ngl. Sad it bombed.

>Uncs trying to claim another Zoomer phenomenon is theirs
This is why no one likes your generation anymore.
>>
>>221035002
Snake Eyes came out during the Covid era and flew under the radar.
>>
>>221034925
I see why Quentin Tarantino hates the 80s
>>
>>221034925
Expect more internet based movies. Maybe a Roblox movie.

90s chads... Its our time now
>>
>>221034925
GenX stopped caring like a decade ago.
we never actually cared. Caring is gay.
>>
im sick of 80s nostalgia, i have been sick of it since the 80s ended, its been 40 years of never ending 80s nostalgia.

80s being so prominent is def because it was gen x's childhood and they took over media

i guess an actual sign of change would be seeing movies and tv shows based on 90s and 2000s ip

once they do the nirvana biopic and i hear welcome to the black parade in a super bowl commercial, its going to be over
>>
>>221036625
thats a cute idea lmao at the father drift sweating on mk64 vs the son wo probably never played it
>>
>>221036769
The 90s and the 2000s both fucking sucked.
>>
If millennials and zoomers take over media, i expect lots more live action anime.
one piece, and upcoming gundam movie are signs i tell ya.
>>
>>221036824
no one asked
>>
Where's my fucking Captain Planet movie
>>

>The 90s and the 2000s both fucking sucked.
Hard pills to swallow
>>
>>221034925

I hope so. I'm looking forward to a new wave of movies made by millennials and zoomers based on vapid and fleeting internet memes.

The first day I heard my big brother swear was the day I finally beat him in Mortal Kombat 3

No, because there isn't much to go back too. The 90s was great, but cartoons were different by that point. It was Doug, Rugrats and Ren&Stimpy. They will try Masters of the Universe again in 10 years.
>>
>>221034968
You're just mad they know how to use computers and you don't.
Also they all got jobs and started saving money and now they all own houses and you're seething about that too.
>>
>>221036769
The problem with 80s nostalgia is they get nothing about the 80s right.
-The 80s was about great music - but all they can do is generic "synthwave" which sounds nothing like 80s music.
-The 80s was about irreverence and complete disregard for political correctness - they sure as shit don't get that right
-The 80s was about practical effects and the dearly missed "movie magic" - now it's all green screened slop.

80s nostalgia isn't about having nostalgia for the 1980s. It's about having nostalgia for things you would see on NES game box art.

Gen X'er here, god I fucking hope so. Though, I doubt it since Gen Z has no fucking money (not your fault though).
