Why was this movie so popular?
>>
It came out when raunchy comedies were big. It was decent but the sequels were ass
>>
>>221039893
Because the Jewish actor was put on a roof for 99% of the movie
Oh and for the paging the doctor scene
>>
Fake social media marketing.
>>
I remember watching in theatres after hearing how it was the greatest comedy of all time and I was like "am I watching the same film?"
>>
right movie at the right time
>>
>>221039947
i only saw the 2nd and it was just a copy and paste except it's in bangkok
>>
it's fun the first time you see it but once you know all the wacky things coming it loses all of its impact
second movie is like that as well, only not nearly as funny
third one I couldn't even finish it was so bad

/4fud/ dorkasauruses hate any type of fun brocomedies because it reminds them of how they got bullied by chad in high school (see: picrel)
>>221039950
Normietard mongoloids only like the dr faggot scene because they are glue eaters. Any more questions?

It was a raunchy comedy when they weren't happening at the time. A bunch of younger dudes also were in prime age for a bachelor's party so it was relatable.

I saw this movie when I was 13 or 14 with my uncle.
I’ve never laughed so hard a movie.
The whole theater was dying of laughter. Still no movie has had a bigger pop in my experience.
Yeah it doesn’t hold up but damn.
I fucking loved the hangover when it came out

Yeah but it was better because we got to see naked ladyboys
>>
>>221039893

>>
Hangover 1 writers later wrote that not nearly as funny "Bateman and Reynolds swap bodies" movie

Olivia Wilde's character is one of the few reasons to watch it
>>

>watching a shit movie because a woman you're attracted to is in it
okay boomer
>>
>>221042329
Yes
>>
>>221039893
it's extremely low-brow and full of zach galifinakis being a fat retard
it's awesome, as others said it doesn't really hold up on rewatch but it's still pretty good (made before 2012 when everything became shit so that instantly gives it points)
21 and 22 jump street are better though
>>
>>221039893
I haven't seen any of those movies and am proud of that fact.
>>221039978
>>221041392
Ok maybe I'll have to check that one out. Hopefully it's a specific scene I can see standalone.
>>

>zach galifinakis
This guy was huge in the late 2000s and suddenly disappeared

Did he die lol
>>
>>221042730

This, also for me it came out while I was in late high school so it was the perfect movie for a 18yr old to go "wow, I can have adventures like this as an adult?"

Essentially it was the next step forward from superbad type comedy.
>>
>>221040883
I dunno man. Tropic Thunder had people damn near on the fucking floor when I saw it.
>>
I watched the first two kast year and was disappointed.
Looking at cast I didn't have particularly high expectations,, but I still overestimated the movie because of its popularity.
>>
>>221039976
Best answer. It's one of those movies where if you were a teenager or college kid when it came out it was a once in a lifetime thing. In hindsight it was the last hurrah for the fratbro comedy flick.
>>
Btw, people shitting on the second film are not getting it. The joke IS that it happened again and it's exactly the same, only the stakes are even higher it's perfect. The only stupid thing about the second movie was how the Thai dad didn't literally just kill the guy after seeing his son, who played violin and studied to be a doctor was bleeding and missing a pinky.

>Why was this movie so popular?
The first smartphones were starting to catch on which allowed people to send and post memes and jokes like the naked banana “do you mind if I save this?” messages and it was clever and edgy to send and post silly billy movie quotes and The Hangover had plenty of stupid lines to repeat. It was the birth of millennial quirk chungus.
