The McHale era of this show was pretty amazing. His schtick worked in Community and The Soup. I can't imagine someone trying to do his style of the show and hitting the same notes as him. They might be able to find their own voice within the format, but he just had a lot of things going right for him productionwise and zeitgeistwise.

So when McCale resurrected it, E! decided to not risk a new host tanking the franchise again
