I don't think that curse existed at the time of the first novel's publishing, it's a recon. And a pretty shitty one at that; you'd think magic school would have countermeasures for students cursing their teachers or school. If I was there, I'd be constantly cursing everyone all the time.
I'm starting to think JK Rowling wasn't the best writer...
