What's your top and bottom 3 Spielberg movies?

Best:
>Jurassic Park
>Minority Report
>Temple of Doom

Worst:
>Schindler's List
>1941
>The BFG
>>
Best is Jurassic Park, Jaws, and Indiana Jones 1
Worst is The Post, Bridge of Spies, and Indiana Jones 4
>>
None. Fuck hollywood and its consoomer golems
>>
>>221082418
I forgot about Lost World and War Horse, they and The Post are the worst
>>
>>221082329
Raiders, Saving private Ryan, and Kinotin. Also last crusade was good

Only shit one I've seen was kingdom of the crystal skull
>>
>>221082329
Project bluebeam the movie. The aliens demand we merge the American and Israeli military.
>>
>>221082418
>>221082479

In light of how bad Dial of Destiny is, was Crystal Skull really *that* bad?
>>
>>221082493
It's been ages since I've seen it, maybe I'll rewatch it some time. I actually didn't hate the alien plot
>>
>>221082329
Top
>Sugarlane Drive
>Duel
>Terminal

Bottom
>ET
>Jaws
>Goonies
overrated trash.
>>
>>221082329
Did Stephen Spielberg really say that aliens are here? I don’t think he’s at that point in life where he can just let something like that slip and no one follows it up with more questions.
>>
>>221082329
1941 was funny.
>>
>>221082540
The truth is interstellar travel is actually EXTREMELY easy but the powers that be have paid scientists to cover it all up and make it seem impossible/improbable.
>>
>>221082329
What did DEM ALIENS say about listening to Mossad's & Holocaust campfire stories?
>>
>>221082540
He did a 30 minute interview about it 3 days ago.
>>
>>221082540
>>221082608
He's literally trying to promote a movie by saying shit

Crystal Skull was genuinely ok. It felt more fleshed out than Dial of Destiny which felt like an excuse to use the Indian Jones IP before Harrison died.
>>
>>221082688
I liked it. It was cool in 3D especially when they go inside the Into Games Machine world. The problem tho is that I feel like Spielberg probably directed about 20% of it and slapped his name on it.
>>
>Spielberg appears on The Rewatchables

wtf is "The BFG"

An adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “Big Friendly Giant.” It was so bad I couldn’t finish it. Appalling to learn Spielberg directed that CGI nightmare
>>

Jesus dude, were you never a child?

He made it shitty on purpose because Dahl was antisemitic.

Catch me if you can.

I think a.i. originally npbieng a Kubrick joint encouraged him to tamp down some of his more ‘pop’ taste tendencies
>>
>>221082784
> Crystal Skull was genuinely
Kick rocks.
The lead refridger > direct nuke
The cgi ants that went on forever, the weird femme faltie Nazi that failed at being apsexy at all.
>>
>>221083031
good thing about terrible movies they can be remade without fear they will be worse than the original attempt. Zero point remaking classic films that also are not dated, remake those terribly made films instead.
>>
>>221083155
Spielberg is the uncredited co-director of Poltergeist and The Goonies. This is an open secret in the industry
>>
>>221083173
He survived the nuke because he drank from the Holy Grail in the previous movie.
>>
>>221083185
Did Dick Donnor really need help though? Wasn't he a big director before anyone even knew who Spielberg was?
>>
>>221083209
Spielberg came up with the story and produced it, and he worked better with kids than Donner. So he was always on set helping direct things and even shot whole sequences by himself, some that never made it in the movie like the lost gorilla subplot
>>
Spielberg has been washed for over a decade. He's so rich that he can make movies forever but anyone else would be in director jail for all the self-indulgent flops he's made.
>>
>>221083209
>dick donner
Is that a real name
>>
>>221083327
Longer than a decade. Most great 20th century directors just fell off a cliff during the shift to digital and CGI. Spielberg is lucky he still has some movies that are praised like The Fabelmans and Catch Me If You Can. Can’t say the same for people like De Palma and Coppola
>>
>>221083372
>Longer than a decade.
This. His last genuinely good movie was probably Munich, the cinematography of the film still looks great, but it does a lot of the heavy lifting too.
>>
Why all the hate for War of the Worlds? The ending where the aliens randomly drop dead from disease was kinda anti-climactic but that's just straight from the book.
>>
>>221083496
It has nothing going for it besides cool alien destruction scenes.
>>
>>221082493
In light of how bad Temple of Doom, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny are, is the whole series just actually kind of bad? Raiders and Crusade are admittedly good.
>>
>>221083512
>Temple of Doom
>bad
>>
>>221083512
What's good about Crusade? It's just Raiders but with Sean Connery acting like Jar Jar Binks.
>>
>>221083544
>It's just Raiders but with Sean Connery
The answer to your question
>>
>>221083512
Take your Temple of Doom slander somewhere else. Real kinographers know it’s Spielberg at the height of his directorial power
>>
>>221082329

Best

>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
>Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arc
>Jaws

Worst

I'd suspect I haven't seen his worst films. Of the ones I've seen.

>Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Dumb idea, mediocre cast, distracting amounts of CGI.
>The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Not terrible; but meh.
>Schindler's List
Super manipulative. I thought it was good on my first viewing; but on repeat viewing you see just how manipulative and mellow dramatic it is using every cheap trick it can to make you sad.
>>
Spielberg's final movie should be a Jaws sequel.
>>
>>221083693
melodramatic is one word
>>
>>221084013

So it is, I don't use the word that often.

Best:
>Hook
Absolute kino. Peter Pan is the best book ever written and Spillburg did the impossible by creating the ultimate sequel to it and remaining entirely consistant with the origional.
>The Time Machine
Spillberg's most iconic film. If someone mentions Spillberg this is the one film that comes to mind for most people.
>Ready Player One
Spillberg does "The Shining"? Fuck yeah! Also the amount of pop culture references and crossovers is simply devine.

Worst:
>Jaws
The big shark attacks people genre has been done to death, this isn't an origional idea and in a world where Deap Blue Sea (Ice Tea) and Shark Attack 3 Megalodon (John Barrowman), both infinatly better shark movies, exist why even bother watching Jaws? I lasted half an hour before I got my phone out and started paying Candy Crush.

>Catch Me If You Can
Boomer shit. Plus DeCrap-rio is a groomer nonce.

>Raiders of the Lost Ark
Woke, like the rest of the films in this series. Lets make the Nazis out to be bad guys... Obvious woke propaganga, is obvious.
>>
Minority Report is his most relevant movie that aged well.

Is it true he is a pedo, or is it just unfounded rumors? His first movie is extremely SUS.
>>
>>221083892

Jaws 7: Landshark

When a mad scientist grafts a pair of robotic legs onto the ocean's deadliest killer the people of Amity Island learn that nowhere is safe. Starring Ryan Gosling as Brody Jr, Michael Caine as the mad Doctor Haibeine, and Zendaya for some reason.
>>
>>221083184
>Zero point remaking classic films that also are not dated

The reason this is done is to ensure the studios retain trademark and copyrights. In the process it gets a nostalgia publicity shot for the original so people try to track it down to rewatch it, that used to be about selling off loads of DVDs reprinted with impeccable timing, but now its about selling the streaming license again. The remake will usually get a fraction of the money spent on it they home to make off republicising the old version so any money the remake makes is a bonus, doubly so in the unlikely event it turns out to be any good.
>>
>>221083536
>>221083576
It’s objectively just as bad as skulls or dial. And by objectively i mean in my opinion, which is the same thing and you are wrong.

It's mediocre. It's not as terrible as people generally remember, but it's also not like Temple of Doom where it's actually kino despite being the red-headed stepchild. (Get it? Because Temple is so red? lmao)

Disclosure Day is really awful guys, don’t trust the reviews they are obviously paid shills or blinded by reverence to his admittedly impressive oeuvre.

I've never heard that about Goonies and dont remember anything to support that. Produced? Obviously but thats it.

Poltergeist is basically the exact opposite in every way.
>>
Wow Disclosure Day even rips off a line from Poltergeist
>>
>>221086841
I've never heard that about The Goonies either, everything I've heard about The Goonies production seems like Donner was definitely the guy running the show. That said, so many shots feel like classic Spielberg it wouldn't surprise me if he was slyly telling Donner where to point the camera.

I really dont have a working knowledge of Crystal Skull either. Always was surprisingly awful. Something about the genre of low fantasy. Some of the worst films of all time. Its really weird.
