Who was the absolute worst character on the wire?
>>
The racist system
>>
Marlo and McNulty (terrible actors)
>>
I know most people will say Ziggy but I stopped watching in Season 4 because I didn’t like the new characters: Marlo and Snoop specifically.
>>
>>221094218
he was dipped in shit
>>
>>221094218
All of the newspaper staff was unwatchable

Wu du yu fink it be mufugga
>>
Snoop and Brother Mouzone were outright cartoon characters and Omar turned into one about halfway through the series
>>
>>221094604
>cartoon characters in my cartoon :(
>>
>>221094218
Herc was based retard kino
>>
>>221094604
Girls like snoop are real. That was just the actress playing herself.
>>221094218
I always think it’s weird that Herc was set up for character development in S1 when he listens to Bodie’s grandmother but Carver gets it instead.

>Girls like snoop are real. That was just the actress playing herself
the fact that the actress did time for murder doesn't mean she's got a lifetime exemption from playing a shitty, hammy, badly written cardboard cutout dumb fuck
>>
>>221094218
Hated how he tried to be black. Are there really white people in america like that? (t. australian).

I also hated snoop. But she wasn't a character, she was an actual person just being herself, which is even worse.

Are you thinking of Frog?
>>
Old Face Andre. He wasn't even good as comic relief.
>>
>>221094661
I think that’s just how she talks.
>>
>>221094709
they found her right out of prison and Michael K Williams convinced everyone to give her a try.
>>
>>221094348
Every time I rewatch the Wire, I always stop after Season 3 finale.
>>
>>221094661
You understand that things are “cliche” because they’re common, right? You understand what “common” means?
>>
didn't like cheese because he reminded me of method man so much. also didn't care for the kids
>>
>>221094604
I audibly groaned the last time I heard the nigger with a library card line. For me it's a tie between marlo and snoop especially when i found out the bitch that played her was an actual murderer who wasn't acting with the stupid gluck gluck voice.
>>
>>221094731
Did some of your eyelid fat get in the way and you think I wrote the word "cliche" somewhere or are you just having one of your little tard fits

>>221094709
She talks like a badly plotted one-note character that was a complete misfit next to the other character she ran round with?
Do you fat pieces of shit ever take a second, put the food down, and try to sort out your impressions from the things you actually saw?
Or are they going to teach that in 11th grade?
>>
>>221094348

Ziggy is a great character. People confuse being (intentionally) annoying with bad.

Why did he say it like this? Was he on team hilldawg?
>>
That one black guy who kept doing crimes. Really didn’t like him at all.
>>
>>221094812
Go look up synonyms for cliche.
>>
Omar, and it's not even close.
>>
the cringy writers self insert newspaper mary sue guy
>>
>>221094867
>That one black guy who kept doing crimes
That really narrows it down
>>
>>221094218
that reporter cunt in the final season
>>
>>221094812
> She talks like a badly plotted one-note character that was a complete misfit next to the other character she ran round with?
In real life the blacks on the show would’ve been talking more like snoop but they wanted the dialogue to be legible. She was a good reminder of that
>>
>>221094218
Herc is a good character, he's just a dumb piece of shit. I would even argue that Omar is too, because they don't soften his ending.
The only truly bad characters are Brother Mouzone and some of the newspaper retards in S5
>>
>>221094218
Omar turned into a hood superhero which was awful.
McNulty turned into a supercop and that final serial killer arc was trash.
The brother whatever was terrible from the start.
The tone they were going for was realism, and the addition of characters that the writers were too much in love with resulted in the type of action heroes or supervillains you'd get in any cop procedural for ratings. Now, I'm not saying the show is 100% realistic or always hit the tone, but it's sure as shit orders of magnitude closer than anything else on TV which is why it's pointed out as an anomaly of a show. Some of the best characters in that regard are the nothing characters like Bubbles, although that doesn't seem controversial anymore.

>>221094812
>one-note character
Not a problem, as long as that one note fits the theme of the show, and fulfills some purpose.
> complete misfit next to the other character she ran round with
In what way?
>Do you fat pieces of shit ever take a second, put the food down, and try to sort out your impressions from the things you actually saw? Or are they going to teach that in 11th grade?
You said all this shit to insult someone but you couldn't even substantiate the claim you're trying to make.
>>
>>221094908
>Herc is a good character, he's just a dumb piece of shit.
Representation for retarded cops, the show needed more of those. They got the corrupt ones covered alright.
>>
>>221094218
herc was a great character
that nigger who could read was the worst one

Journalists are fucking subhuman and the fabricator guy in that season was inspired by a black guy who everyone suspected was a fraud but who was protected by his DEI armor
>>
>>221095194
>Journalists are fucking subhuman and the fabricator guy in that season was inspired by a black guy who everyone suspected was a fraud but who was protected by his DEI armor
That’s why it’s good.
Also I’m biased (because my dad worked for one) but it’s a really realistic portrayal of the newspapers as they were collapsing entering the clickbait era.
>>
>>221094337
marlo guy is a good actor

what scene in particular made you feel that way about him? my view is that he does what he can with very little, the character being what he is
>>
>>221094852
he was a bernie bro
>>
>>221095696
He's not believable as the intimidating figure or cunning strategist the character is meant to be. He just dopily stares and talks like a retard in every scene. They keep showing him command crazy respect from his crew and outsmarting his enemies but it just looks comical since he weighs like 120 lb and looks lobotomized
>>
>>221094641
>Girls like snoop are real. That was just the actress playing herself.
No she wasn't. Having a criminal record doesn't mean she was gunning down hundreds of armed men. Same thing with the Omar character. I bet you think every "based on a true story" movie actually happened.

>Le low IQ faec

>>221094922
>In what way?
Well, she appeared with Chris in like 90% of her scenes, and his character had interesting things about him that had to be inferred (GWOT-era infantry boots, hates chomos, last seen bonding with his counterpart), while snoop had absolutely none of that and said everything there was to know about her character out loud in a bizzare highly affected christopher walken
>You said all this shit to insult someone but you couldn't even substantiate the claim you're trying to make.
Okay great didn't know about this rule am I clear to point out how medically obese you are now
>>
>>221095920
>saying someone is “playing themselves” means their actions in the story actually happen not that they speak and behave like the character themselves
You must be neurotypical to post here
>>
I'm iffy on Marlo. I think he was directed badly. He did seem lobotomized and was leaning too far into the "dead eyed psychopath" thing.
But he also pulled off some awesome scenes and lines. But he was also given some dumb-ass shit to say, peaking with "my name is my name!"
But his journey to learn about money laundering was pretty good except it was too long.
>>
>>221094218
Not Herc.
>>
>>221095890

he was just doing the zoomer stare before it was popular
>>
>>221094922
I think it's pretty clear from the last episode Omar is in that he was able to do the things he did purely on reputation, not because he was an action hero.

Brother Muzone is a hitman with a gimmick that impresses his clients, who are dimwitted thugs.
>>
>>221097122
Justin was th zoomer stare character
>>
>>221095890
you not being in that world doesn't mean thats not how those people behave, plenty of sociopath niggas have that exact dead eye expression
>>
Marimow for me. Hit close to home as I have experienced my fair share of trojan horse time bomb managers.

There was none, even the weaker characters were great and had their moment. Can't think of a single character I didn't like in their own right.
>>
>>221094852
Oh but while I like everyone, SENATOR Clay Davis is the best one.
>>
>>221097969

There’s a lot of factors at play that made me uncomfortable and unsure what feelings she should be having

to this day i don't understand idiots insisting it's woke

Most of the characters stunk.
Top 5 characters:
>Slim Charles
>Avon
>Spiros
>Bodie
>Clay Davis
>>

He pretty much directly states why he set up marlo to herc. He is now a god in the nigger criminal law community.
>>
>>221095890

honestly, i agreed with you when i first saw it. when i saw him again in we own this city, i thougt much more of his performance in the wire.
>>
>>221098240

i really think the show captured a true to life perspective. people with woke perspectives simply tend to apply their views to what they consume.
>>
Actual answer is the kid Bubbles too under his wing. The absolute worst performance in the show put against with one of the best.
>>
>>221098947
well. he was obviously slow. or I thought he was meant to be
>>
>>221097176
i see that sorta face every day, it's disturbing because they exist in society but they are unable to understand anything, like crows giving people coins for food
>>
>>221099032
would have been kinda sad to see him die though. at least he made it. he won the game
>>
was which way the way that it was ever determined?
>>
watching a bunch of 20 somethings slowly pick up the wire and then set about with great determination to shitposting it because they got filtered by blacks talking is really funny. even with the first scene of the show being a blacks talking tutorial.
>>
>to this day i don't understand idiots insisting it's woke
Omar is probably the biggest reason, as le honorable gay robin hood thug, but even he gets it from the writers as a hypocrite shitbag on multiple occasions.
>>
>>221094218
Omar. Dude was a straight up cartoon character.
>>
>>221099254
But he had a shot gun
>>
>>221094218
I was surprised to learn Herc was only 25 when filming started

It's just not believable that he'd earn any respect in the first place. Wallace could probably 1v1 him

I find this post very kafkaesque.

also the worst character on entourage… a show full of bad characters.
