Apparently he is like the Norm Macdonald of actors like he's "your favourite actors favourite actor", Ethan Hawke said he's the only interesting actor of the last 30 years for example. What's so kino about him
>>22110020350% goober, 50% charisma
>>221100203Watch some interviews with him and it'll become apparent
He's one of my favorites too, watch Mandy
>>221100203>What's so kino about himHe makes a good movie better. He makes a dogshit movie memorable.Deadfall (1993) is one of the most dogshit films I've ever seen and I only saw it for him and only remember the scenes he was in. He knows how to deliver the most entertaining performance regardless of wether he's in a good or a bad film.More like Kinolas Cage.
>knows the movie sucks>Cages it up to make it watchable in a bad way>is fine when the movie is actually goodalso I think his acting style is so unusual that some directors don't even know how to direct him
There are 20 different actors that could play any Leo role, any Brad Pitt role etc. Hell even exceptional actors like Jared Harris kind of fit into a certain lane but do it better than other people. Nobody can give the same type of performances Cage can without it being just comical and a complete farce. Cage has had a ton of misses where his performance falls completely flat but it usually feels like it's a mismatch between what he's going for and the sensibilities of the script/director. When everything is cohesive he can give bonkers performances and it just works somehow.
>>221100203>>221100282Spider-Noir is the best series on Prime and all of television right now...>ha-CHA-CHA-CHAWhen he stretches in the chair, you know Cage put some actual thought into it. This is like his Ozzy goodbye series, I fear. I want there to be a season 2 but I doubt there will be. Cherish this show while you can.
>>221100203His face is just too funny to look at
>>221100203I don't know he started making popular movies and then he started doing all type of movies. Now he has made so many movies that I think that nobody thinks about him as one of the best. I guess that his strategy was making all the movies he can to survive as many other actors do when they stop being at the top but he needs to be in some popular movie again, one that is nominated for the Oscars or something to come back to the top. Similar to what happened with Brendan Fraser.
>>221100203The only bad thing is that he hasn't had a big hit in decades.
>>221100364Eat shit poo. You'll never have a Nicholas Cage.
I heard he participated in sum good old domestic abuse
>>221100203He's talentedHe's smart and knowledgeable about moviesHe's genuinely passionate about his craft without becoming stuck up or too good for cheesy roles
>>221100375NTA but I sort of agree with him and think it's an advantage instead of a flaw.
>>221100375Touched a nerve? lol
>>221100371Hard to gauge but Spider-Noir seems to be it, Longlegs was also a decent success
>>221100203Niggaless Cage is a walking meme, watch his movies and you will understand Plus he's like obsessed with castles and bought a million dollar cemetery plot in some haunted New Orleans gravesiteLook up his movie Dream Scenario for a classic nic cage experience
Well you see, Nick cage is entertaining and can get people who want to watch him. Norm Macdonald very rarely managed to do either.
>>221100409>>221100420You wish you touched something... anything at all, poo jeet.
>>221100335I've watched pic rel three times. It's a pretty bad movie, but a cool Cage performance. so three times.
i always thought he was a goober through my childhood. then i saw the Bad Lieutenant film with him when i was around 20 and it blew my mind he was so good.
>>221100450how many times?
>>221100446Dream Scenario is more like a documentary about Nic Cage, the guy is really a living meme
>>221100395That's a goose egg, anon
>>221100368Cage’s strategy is to be in literally any movie that has a paycheck so he can deal with his money problems.
>>221100471Leaving Las Vegas: 5 times.
>>221100521how many times?
>>221100203I think he just likes living large and having fun. He's got good acting chops, but he'll cheerfully take any part in any shitty movie and phone in the lines, just for a paycheck - particularly after the IRS fell on him like the great wall of china, back in 2011.
>>221100471I used to binge watch Leaving Las Vegas when I was an alcoholic. Was easily my most preferred movie to get drunk too, and might still be my favorite movie. The last time I watched it was right before I got fired for being such an inveterate mess about 5-6 years ago-I lost my girlfiend subsequently and my living situation. I got sober shortly after that and have maintained it to this day. I haven't been able to watch this movie again since. However, the effect this film has had on my subconcious and general psyche is profound.
>>221100646Thank you for sharing. I'm not an alcoholic but I could relate to being a mess as I am quite the clusterfuck myself. You're still an alcoholic by the way.
Jared Leto is the Nicolas Cage of genre slop ips
>>221100203It's the WMAF thing
>>221100692Pedantic; but you're not wrong. Lazy phrasing on my part I guess, the point is being aware of it and taking it all day by day so I don't trick myself into thinking I can ever pick it up casually now and then without ending up at rock bottom again.
>>221100397Is he actually knowledgeable about movies and passionate about the craft? I haven’t heard him in any interviews.I remember an old boss said his favorite actor was Cage (this was around 2010) and I was thinking Con Air and Face/Off and cheesy albeit entertaining shit but he said “you gotta watch Leaving Las Vegas”. I never took cage seriously but thought he was as >>221100247 described. Hit or miss but sort of a funny guy, just not entirely sure if he was in on the joke or not.I like the guy but Pig really changed my opinion on him. Pure distilled unadulterated kino and a stellar performance.
>>221100752A big deal of his inspiration comes from German Expressionism films that were made between WW1 and WW2. He knows all kinds of trivia and technical crap beyond acting like cinematography, light works, audio editing, and stuff like that about those films.
He has his own acting style, he doesn't do realism or subdued underacting as is common now. It has become very rar.
>>221100646Similar story here. I'm 9 months sober currently and plan to be for life.
>>221100932I hope you keep with it man. I think you've got this if you're already close to the first year under your belt-the first 6 months were the hardest for me.A lot has to be let go, but I feel a lot better and more capable than I used to be, and I'm sure you already do too. I'm still really alone, but the clarity I have about how empty most of my friendships and attachments really were has made me prefer loneliness in lieu of unsatisfying, enabling relationships. I try to be patient for something true, even if it's not guaranteed or unlikely.
>>221100203>What's so kino about himHe has crazy fucking instincts an can be completely uninhibited.
>>221101080Thanks, wish you well too
For me its Lord of War
>>221100203hmm he's crazy. a lil. like a guy who invents his own martial arts. its interesting but... you know... nope. but can be actually working somewhat
>>221101080>>221101145nice can i get my cock sucked as well or is there an queue?

>>221101209I'm sure this has nothing to do at all with your own struggles with addiction/self-worth, right sweetheart?
>>221100203He’s washed. Just pirate stream Spider-Noir, you’ll see he has lost the energy. He’s not young any more.
>>221100203He's the only mainstream actor free of the oppressive shackles of virulent realism
>>221100203If you take his filmography, rank it, and then cut off the bottom half you'd say he's the greatest of all time undeniably. He's worked with The Coen Brothers, David Lynch, Scorsese, John Woo, Charlie Kaufman, Paul Schrader, De Palma, Michael Bay, Werner Herzog, Neveldine and Taylor. He's done indie flicks, major blockbusters, he's played superheros, Dracula, Jesus, real people, a dual role, voice acting, he's gone away and had a comeback. I think there's nobody on his level except Denzel and Dafoe.
>>221100375Yo mama told me that she thought Nicholas Cage was the most handsome white man she's ever seen. JK, I don't know if it was your mom, but it was a big black woman.
>>221101890Meant for>>221100364Whoops
>>221100345>There are 20 different actors that could play any Leo role, any Brad Pitt role etc. Hell even exceptional actors like Jared Harris kind of fit into a certain lane but do it better than other people. Nobody can give the same type of performances Cage can without it being just comical and a complete farce.excellent point. Precise way of describing Cage's unique abilities. He's a kino machine. Been so for three decades. Should have five Oscars, at least three.
>>221101466>and had a comebackWhat is that comeback?
nicholas cage READS. he has a large and eclectic library filled with various manuscripts and antique books (originals), so he has gotten into the mind of pre-industrial man, and understands how to convey that emotional intensity into a performance. he resonates with more than just the image of the actor, he has soul.which is why he is a constant while the movies he is in can be uneven depending on editing, cinematography, direction and dialogue. he makes everything he is in better.
>>221100203Dude watch his performance in the Rock and then Pig. This guy is completely fucking insane and talented and retarded and has always been this way.
>>221100546>mfw I feel the Alabama sun while I think of giving my daughter a toy bunny
>>221100371Pig is a great movie.
>>221102020Yes. But not a success
>>221100617He never does not give 110% percent, even in bad movies. Especially in bad movies.
>>221101466>Denzel and Dafoe. Not sure why you'd claim they're as good as Cage. They're great, but not Cage great. Seem like you though in "random very good actors" for comparison. Very good points though.
>>221101466Denzel plays Denzel in every role, desu
>>221102180Nta but Dafoe is absolutely as great as Cage for most of the same reasons.
>>221100449i’m so tired of the Jeet deragement syndrome on this site
>>221100203
>>221100203i’ve said for decades cage is one of the best. there’s a reason he’s worked with the best directors of the last forty years. anyone saying otherwise doesn’t understand acting is a job.
>>221100799This. He isn't method acting. He doesn't do classical acting styles, either. He has called his style "shamanistic," and describes trying not for realism nor for immersing into the role, but trying to distill and bring out "the spirit" of each role. He's like the Ryan Hall of acting. Ryan Hall is in MMA and specialized into leg locks, so he "fights" by flopping onto the ground and grabbing your ankle. Weird as fuck, and if it doesn't work he gets his face pounded. But when it works he can beat some of the very best very quick and they just look confused.
>>221101466exactly this is what i’ve tired to explain to people for years. there’s very clearly a reason he’s worked with all the greats.
>>221100705No, Leto is a cringe tryhard imitation of Cage. Nic is effortlessly kino in everything. Leto is a phony.
>>221100203reminder he's a coppola
>>221102508Yeah, and deliberately ditched the name sonhe couldn't coast on it
Cage is the best actor of all time. Shame he's getting too old for it now, he can still do shit like Pig but Spider-Noir was almost as bad as the recent Mission Impossible stuff where a geriatric Tom Cruise has to be carried up every flight of stairs for his stunts.
>>221102397Honestly the only memorable leto performance is in Lord of War because he plays Nic Cage lil' brother
>>221100203Even though he’s goofy, he is it in a very entertaining manner. It doesn’t really matter what he’s in Cage is always entertaining. The biggest loss when it comes to him is that he’s rarely used for his more subtle ranges. He’s a master of manic portrayals though so I get why directors want that.
>>221102911I think he did well in Dallas Buyers Club.
>>221100203If you'e avorite actor isn't Brando then you don't get acting.
>>221100203No such thing as an interesting actor. They're retarded apes that read lines
>>221102295>He has called his style "shamanistic," and describes trying not for realism nor for immersing into the role, but trying to distill and bring out "the spirit" of each role.Nouveau shamanism is something he tried specifically for ghost rider and that period of films, it's not his default style and it's actually pretty close to method acting but a bit more abstract. The idea is rather than never breaking character you instead cover yourself in little trinkets that evoke the essence of the character, basically turn yourself into a walking mood board so you can look at or touch something you're carrying and get immersed in a specific vibe in an instant.
Anyone see this? What the fuck was he on lol
