This would perhaps have been a better season for Tom Baker to have left at then when he did. The actual Key to Time itself is all sort of irrelevant, at most it just provides a reason to introduce Romana that I am sure you could have introduced in some other way. Before going into watch it I read a lot of praise for The Pirate Planet that I did not think was really all that deserved (I suspect it is just because it was written by Douglas Adams people give it such praise), and, although I am not saying it is great, I also did not find The Power of Kroll deserved the reputation as some awful Doctor Who serial either. The Androids of Tara was my favourite of the bunch.

There's a lot of rushing through technobabble towards the end when they have to just describe what's going on, unable to actually show it. It's a nice enjoyable uplifting adventure, keyed to this time (get it?) before JNT came in with his requirement for doom and gloom.
