just learned that planet of the apes is getting a reboot, as in, the Caesar-verse is now truly dead and gone. Its so sad because before Kingdom, this series had the potential for being truly the greatest modern film franchise and one of the greatest series of films of all time. But, as it will stand, it will simply be an exceptional trilogy. Also sad that the momentum of hype has kind of died down, for a minute it was something a lot of film fans were seeking out but now it feels like the trilogy will become one of those 'if you know, you know' things.
They have some big shoes to fill. It's rare a movie has a moment that renders an entire theater speechless like the first did.
>>221140656well the second and third movies I think are just as good or better than part 1, but the thing is the 4th movie could have been just as good. It was tied up really well, and all the concepts for the film were great, but the actual writing and execution was terrible.
Who ate my fart stink???
>>221140589They fucked it up by making the 4th movie. The 3 ceaser trilogy was a good prequel retcon into how the apes got smart, humans dumb and the world fucked.Even if the 3rd is a bit cheesy with callbacks to the OG movie. They should have then just skipped ahead either to the next generation of ceasers family/clan or to some time in the future when apes are farming humans.Either way it should have just been full CGI apes, no humans talking and maybe make another trilogy in different periods of the apes control leading to a full circle back to the OG movie.
>reboot of a reboot of a rebootwow hollywood is getting more creative every day
>>221140981The general concept for Kingdom is genius, and I fully support the idea of a middle trilogy before a full remake of the original movie. It was just the ariting lacked all intelligence and the guy was no were near smart enough to tackle the themes the trilogy had played with up to that point. But, the potential was there
Yeah eat it
