what am I supposed to watch now? nothing else comes close
>>221140662I had this issue after a recent rewatch and ended up just watching it again. Halfway through season 2 now.
did you know books are just movies & they're basically screenplays but more fleshed out. When you read a book just imagine its a movie happening & its the best movie ever made
Read books. Start with the Russians like Dostoevsky or Tolstoy, especially Tolstoy.
WOKE UP THIS MORNING
What's so great about this show? I don't like shows about mooks thinking they're better that other people because they act like niggers and commit crimes.
>>221140662dubs and I rewatch the sopranos
dubs and i eat my stink fart
>>221140838It teaches you how real life works unironically. The real world is just a bunch of kickbacks, kick-ups, and sit-downs. Also impulsive actions.
I just watch Sopranos and Breaking Bad and Trailer Park Boys all on a cyclical repeat, they're the only 3 shows worth watching ever made.
It's been a while but I don't suppose you've watched season 1 of AMC's The Terror? If not that's a fun time.I mean, it's not the rewatchable kind of fare the Sopranos will offer you, but there are a few elements in common. Latent danger, a bit of the unknown / supernatural / supposed supernatural.. A "crew" (sorry, i couldn't help it). But seriously there's those 'composed' conversations, group dynamics under pressure. Human nature and selfish motivations checked against the system that got those people there. Also there's genuinely great writing, acting, directing, cinematography, and I'd have to imagine the editor was just as up to the job. I'd cap that round-the-studio off with saying "the thing's tight", but honestly some of the air gets let out at the end a bit. Not enough to not recommend watching the first season of this miniseries tho.If you haven't done it I'd say it's worth your time
>Gandolfini's final meal, just before his fatal heart attack, reportedly consisted of four rum shots, two piña coladas, two beers, two orders of fried prawns, and a large serving of foie gras.
>>221140662I finished the show for the first time about 8 months ago. how long should i wait until my first rewatch?
>>221141089Mad Men you dumb fucking pleb
>>221140662Twin Peaks
>>221141331Isn't that just a dumb monster show
>>221141508I'd say it isn't, and if that's what you heard about it you can rest easy. The monster element isn't leaned on. I could develop scurvy in a couple toes and still count it's significant scene's on one foot, if we're bandying spoils at this point. It's more a spice for the human drama, and doesn't come out any more than necessary. More to the fore are the environment, problems with the equipment and supplies, the crew dynamics, the nature of humans in a desperate situation. There's mental health stuff, criminal stuff, that quiet consequential stuff. Lots of coming to get you drama besides.Ya know what a much more accurate, while still anemic and reductive assessment might sound like? "Isn't that just a dumb age of sail show?". Didn't know I liked age of sail stuff until I watched the first season of the Terror. Can't vouch for the other seasons tho. This take is either some guy who has been given a 5 second blurb and doesn't know what he's talking about, a rando anon who kinda did a shitty spoil that's not even that important, or OP who is just "come at me with your shows" on Sopranos, which would kinda suck for Sopranos fans who want something else to watch
>>221141619Alright, take it easy.
>>221141838right, so that third one then. Guess I'm new to the board, enjoy the honest reply this time i suppose
>>221140662Succession
>CARMELA: How was work today?>AJ: All I’m doing is taking phone calls and getting coffee.>TONY: It's an entry level job, so don’t stop believing.>*waitress brings a bowl of onion rings>TONY: I ordered some for the table.>*the front bell rings>*Tony looks up>*a duck flies in and lands on Tony’s shoulder>DUCK: Quack!>TONY: Oh! are they ever gonna do a good remaster and transfer of the original film?the bluray looks like dogshit, it's probably not even real HD, but rather using an old dvd remaster and upscaling it, a lot of early blurays were like that.
>>221140662cuck
>>221140662After rewatching The Sopranos I moved on to Mad Men. Give it a watch.
The Wire it's better
reminder that Jim Gandolfini gave Lorraine Bracco a COCK as a gift
>>221142198Lorraine Bracco's still got it desu. Oh marone.
>>221142005considering GOT 4k transfer is the best uhd disc on the market i wouldnt worry
>>221142058Too many "minorities" if you know what I mean.
>tfw no crazy drug addict jewish gf
>>221141619Don’t waste your breath on him anon. Just jingle some keys and talk about gabagool this jit is retarded and enjoys the show like all the other midwits that identify with tony.
>>221142005you just have a shit encode brother
>>221142005It feels like jewish magic sucked the life out of everything and we are living in a hollow shitskin prison planet hell. Look at that image. Nothing looks like this anymore. Its like all goodness has been foided and kiked away.
>>221142610Every country eventually gets sick of their shit and kicks them out.
>>221140662Every other golden-age HBO show is better.
>>221142607no, also I'm not talking about encodes or bitrates here, I am talking about the film scan itself, it looks like shit because it's not actually hd. again a lot of old blurays did this, where they just upscaled dvd masters and called it a day.
>>221142058The Wire is the most overrated show that ever aired on HBO and possibly the most overrated show of all time.
I watched Saul + Breaking Bad recently and, while I think they're excellently made from a technical point of view, they really don't hold a candle to the Sopranos. I think they take themselves a tad too seriously for my tastes, they manage to build great characters but a lot of the dialogues feel far too forced and cool for the sake of being cool: outside of Hank and a couple of others, I would never imagine any of these characters being actual human beings you'd be able to find in real life. The Salamancas are especially unbelievable, way too cool for their own good. With the Sopranos it's the exact opposite, there may be a lot less depth around the plot and a lot less attention to the film-making part, but the characters act and especially TALK like actual human beings, with all the malapropisms and retarded jokes that you'd expect out of these kinda people.
>>221140662Succession is up there Succession, breaking bad and sopranosGod tier
>>221142708Watch the wire. Hornblower is also fun. John adams hbo miniseries. Shogun.
>>221142715Succession is Arrested Development for people who think they're too good to watch actually funny sitcoms
>>221142721Most of it’s based on real life events that have been smashed together. The family is based off two actual families. That’s why it’s so funny. Mattison is based off musk, Ellison and Sam alt. Like the blood to ex girlfriend thing is based off something Sam did it makes it hilarious Rapping at father’s birthday same deal, rocket explosion. It’s hilarious. Musk should be buying Fox News next in real life
>>221142607by the way, I respect that you got the exact same frame as me, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one autistic enough to pull that shit.
>>221142005>>221142651you were right, I concedebtw supposedly a 4k remaster is coming
>>221140662Watch it again and notice the little things
>>221142708alright but you gotta get over that
>>221140662Slopranos is so fucking overratedI can name so many shows I'd rather watch
>>221140662
>>221140662Read books is an obvious answer but also there are like countless excellent movies too. There are hundreds of great movies for every one great tv show, and that might be underselling it. That's assuming you've watched all the really good live action tv shows, like the first season of True Detective. First season of the Terror is also pretty good. I've never thought breaking bad was even slightly overrated despite that becoming kind of the standard slightly elitist line now. It deserves every bit of hype it ever got.
>>221141464>>221142038this is the correct answer. Mad Men is basically a more polished Sopranos from the same, more mature, creator.
>>221142058This. So much this. Me and my wife's boyfriend love watching this on the weekends.
>>221141388I have that almost every day and I'm healthy. I think the cocaine is what did him in.
>>221143861LOL no, unless you like hearing annoying women bitching about shit
>>221143861>Mad Men is basically a more polished Sopranos from the same, more mature, creator.lmfao watch mad men if you want to see where the whole girlboss “ACTUALLY WOMEN DESERVE TO BE RESPECTED!” genre came from… https://youtu.be/_m67JbGjWnchttps://youtu.be/n5GBRvvRj_s
>>221140662Breaking bad, succession, the shield, sharped rivals
>>221141943>Duck: That's all folks! Quack!
>>221142708You're right, it's trying too hard to be cool and have le hype moments. Both series have geriatric assassins which is an annoying trope but they suck that guy's dick really, REALLY hard in Breaking Bad.
>>221144542>>221144690The same can be said about how Carmella and Meadow become increasingly demanding as the show continues. You have been radicalized into thinking anything about women is woke. In reality the show doesn't take sides as much as you paint it. You can think Don Draper as le epic alpha male or whatever if you want to - in fact many here do so. Or you can choose to sympathize with his flaws, much like Tony's, in spite of both of them being successful men. It's not black on white morals, unlike you two seem to believe. That's what make it both good shows.
>>221142708The sopranos doesn't have the faggot ass cornholing cocksucker Salamanca twins so it is by default the better show. Lamest characters to ever exisht
