>Died in 2008>Still causes people here to seethingWhy has there been an uptick of George Carlin critique here? Should that be entirely antiquated 17 years after he died?
Because people finally started actually watching his stuff rather than nodding and going “yes, he truly was the greatest!” without ever watching one of his specials all the way through. He’s a victim of the slow deterioration of trust in institutions and experts. Funny people would go “Carlin was the best!” and you’d just trust them and go about your day, but when you go and watch his shit you see the most midwit, Reddit style, opinions lacking nuance and being borderline if not outright propaganda. >White middle class bankersIs an insane fucking line. His views on other stuff is like “we kill chickens, why not abort white babies?!”
At least George had actual jokes too though. "Near miss, no thats what I would call a near HIT". His political stuff isnt disagreeable people are just reactive against that style of political commentary standup because everything in society is politicized. Want to see comedians tell jokes, story tellers tell stories, entertainers to entertain.
>>221146594He left plenty of footage for us to mock while he enjoys getting raped by Wotan in hell.
He would have been dunking on Trump so hard the first round that nobody would have voted for him twice.
>>221146867I miss when severely depressed, narcissistic, drug addicted comedians were the moral arbitors of our times :(

When George died I was bummed but my first girlfriend (who was religious) said he was in Hell now and that lead to a chain of events that I’m still reeling from today.
ARMPITSASSHOLECROTCHANDTEETH>ARMPITS>ASSHOLE>CROTCH>AND>TEETH
I liked his earlier routines in his younger years where he's just making funny observations of everyday life stuff. His political rants in his later years just sound so bitter by comparison, even if they still had some funny moments. He had some great delivery if nothing else.
>>221147045That girlfriend was more based than you could ever hope to be.
Because whenever you meet a 105IQ person who only knows the world through cultural osmosis, Carlin is one of their heroes. The second you actually analyze his "stand ups" you realize that they are just struggle sessions where a middle-to-upper class white liberal crowd laughs in order to feel socially conscious.
>>221147045You're gf is a retard because hell isn't real and it isn't a place for comedians who tell it like it is. Sheol, which is basically Hades, is the afterlife for everyone. Meaning everyone goes to "hell". The actual Hell Hell, the fiery one, is a prison for the true Satan and his followers which would have been angels.

>>221146594He was practically the progenitor of an awful style of non-comedy where people just rant for applause instead of telling jokes. It’s only in hindsight that you can truly appreciate how much damage he did.
>>221147511his daughter called him abusive, he probably would have been me-too'd

I actually think this had a lot to do with Zack's impression on oneyplays. When those couple videos came out is when I started seeing those opinions parroted here and on twitter. I know you want to deny the influence but you cannot deny the audience overlap. It's like how Filthy Frank's kill yourself song caused the >IT'S TRASHED meme with penn jillette
>>221147967Why does /pol/ make Colbert talk about politics?
>>221147556He would be a liberal two state solution supporter most likely
>>221147989seriously, how did he pull off such a successful career without getting his life destroyed by all those powerful people he criticized?
>>221146594Carlin threads are funny, you're the one seething lol
He was LITERALLY a safe edgy reddit tier comedian before it became "cool". If he were still alive today he'd be an even bigger insufferable faggot than he was when he was alive and would be posting on X about how woke and gay he is. The world is objectively better without him in it.
>>221148024Because he was hilarious. Old people loved his edgy boomer humor and young people loved him from Bill & Ted.
>>221147511He was a somewhat abusive junkie in private life last I checked, mocked environmentalism (big no-no still on the left) and even beside all the racial shit he spewed he also admitted he was a hypocrite who catered to his audience when someone called him on the bullshit "we only bomb brown people" half a year later when the US bombed the shit out of serbian civilians, which of course he had nothing to say about.
>>221146594I legit think it's one guy. Carlin was just so widely loved and is now so far in the past that it's the only thing that makes sense to me.
>>221146594>comedian who had a legendary career for decades should be forgotten by nowYou are incredibly stupid, you faggot jam boy.
>>221147989you know he was the only person saying this kind of stuff publicly at the time right? There was no internet and nothing on Tv or movies that went that way. Also he probably doesn't criticise Jews because he wasn't one and thought it inappropriate for him to do it, if that's what you're alluding too. I'm unsure but critiquing him from this info saturated internet future misses that the world was totally different then
>>221146594He turned into another political crybaby that shielded himself with "comedy". Every shitty late night show host and their seal-clapping fans from the past 20 years worships George's later half-assed stand-up and books as gospel more than evangelicals worshipping Israel at one of Joel Osteen's megachurches. And don't give me this shit about "y-you don't get it because you're a chud!!" I have more Carlin vinyls than you faggot, eat lizard shit.
Because at the end of the day despite his innate talent for verbosity, George was still that kid saying naughty words to his fellow Catholic school kids. The world that he was rebelling against at the beginning of his career no longer existed by the time his life ended and by then, he probably made some grim realizations about the world he inherited and was leaving behind but was far too late to put two and two together beyond his own periphery. Same thing can be explained in the John Cleese pasta, just on different sides of the Atlantic. He predicted the Muslims playing the long game by outbreeding the west, he could potshots at his fellow whites and Catholics and he often did, but he was soft on the jews who buttered his bread. He was wise enough to know that there was a big club that everyone wasn't in, but he enjoyed the fringe benefits of being on the outside of that club by living in a $10 million home in California, so it was hypocritical of him to point that out. He became what he ranted about and was incapable of seeing it. That's not to say that he didn't make the occasional profound statement or wry observation and he got famous for articulating in comedic fashion the very words that would get you cancelled and outright arrested in his time like Lenny Bruce, it was just that over time it was coming from just another establishment stooge masquerading as the everyman even if he wasn't aware of it, which I doubt. George also started the ranting comedy style as opposed to the setup/punchline and that morphed into people treating stand up as therapy where they pee their jokes out like Hannah Gadsby. George had great diatribes and bits, but one struggles to think of a joke that he told that wasn't at the end or of the apex of some long winded rant. The only one that comes to mind is of the guy eating a bunch of laxatives and having shit shooting out his ass and Bam Margera of all people got one of his buddies to turn it into a CKY prank. That summarizes George.
>>221146594His sets are finding new life as shortform video. It's also very easy to imagine him going on a 50 minute rant about Trump and MAGA. Carlin was very left leaning even though he said words that get you cancelled nowadays.
>>221146594pretty sure Carlin is still seething out there
>>221149324That's not true, anyone who gets into him knows he went too dark at the end there. The 4chan dorks don't like him because he not right wing enough for them, well, it's not all about you and you're welcome to become a nazi comedian yourself, there's plenty of stages to perform on
>>221146594>>>/wsg/6173400
>>221149795Way to reuse his joke but with all fun drained out of it. I too hope he's down there right now, smiling up at us.

>>221149967>hell is other faggots.
>>221149824Total nonsense. His later material was thinly-veiled political commentary masked with the occasional snarky quip. The only way that shit would've been funny was if he was standing on a wooden crate with "SOAP BOX" written on it with shoe polish. Also Carlin fans were never "right wing", jackass. He was mocking pearl-clutching right wing christians in the fucking 70s.
