How would you make a good Napoleon movie? Or would it have to be a mini series? Who would you cast as Napoleon and the Marshals?

Excuse me mate, were you there?

Focus on one specific event, something like the 18 Brumaire Coup, perhaps treat it not too seriously like the Death of Stalin.
>miniseries
Best odds for a great quality show but it’s never happening, required budget would be a nogo.
Best place to start is the beginning of his first Italian campaign when Napoleon is just a newbie general stuck on a sideshow theater for his first real command, you can introduce several important characters he’ll meet in Italy that way (Massena, Augereau, Lannes, Berthier, Murat, Larrey etc.). Earning the respect of his men, battles, sieges, victories and struggles, Josephine showing up, the desperate Austrian attempts at relieving Mantua, from nearly dying at Arcole to his triumph at Rivoli, the peace... Lot of potential for action and character drama.

You don't hire a 90yo retard.
There's more, but that is the key.

The battle of Austerlitz, intercut with flashbacks to important moments in his rise to power culminating in his victory.

For me, it's Davout (played by Michael Shannon) and Lannes (played by the guy who played Brutus in Rome).

Oh right, Bonnie would be played by Nicholas Cage

Hard to cast because they're mostly in their 30s or 40's when Napoleon arrives, but something like
Tom Hiddleston as Augereau.
Paul Mescal as Bernadotte.
Jack Reynor as Murat.
Bronson Pinchot as Perignon.
Colin Firth as Berthier.
Josh O’Connor as Soult.
Matthew Macfayden as Mortier.
Jude Law as Jourdan.
J.K. Simmons as Kellermann.
James Austin Johnson as Davout.
James McAvoy as Gouvion-St-Cyr.
Fionn O' Shea as Lannes.
Colin Morgan as MacDonald.
Colin O'Donahue as Massena.
Denis Ménochet as Ney.
Bill Hader as Bessieres.
Ben Marshall as Grouchy.
Éanna Hardwicke as Oudinot.
Eminem as Prince Józef Poniatowski.

Don't let Ridley Scott handle it, for one
