I actually thought it worked okay in Superman, but he's not the guy to build the setting. Superman itself wasn't a big hit, which you kind of need for this sort of thing to work. The entire idea of a big shared cinematic universe is no longer new or interesting, so there's muted interest to begin with. And they're pushing characters nobody gives a shit about. Marvel started doing that only after they ran out of A-listers, and they're already preparing to the right the ship with X-Men. There's no reason to be making a Supergirl movie and not Wonder Woman or Flash or whatever. They need to look at the Justice League cartoon which is where 90% of the audience knows these characters from and just do that. Having Supergirl as your second movie would be like Marvel following Iron Man with The Eternals.

It's time to admit DC Heroes are not cool and aren't meant to have the edgy and stylish appeal Marvel Heroes too, they're more like Godly cartoon characters being role models and safety commericals. They're too kid friendly and one note, including even Batman.
