>Sauron-Man, you’re allied with SAURON?
>>

Still does
>>
>>221168526
he wasn't allied with sauron he was explicitly trying to get to his ring first and use it against him
>>
>>221168526
Yeah, I always thought making Saruman's name so similar to Sauron's was a tad on the nose.

even if sauron would just be back to his old power, it's the rest of the world who was now significantly weaker and more fractured. no chance.

He has to stay in Rivendell with his magic ring or it will start falling apart. The elves are too concerned with holding on to their dying homes for as long as possible to help.

this. LotR is also a post-apocalypses story as much as it is a fantasy story. the fantasy is just coming to an end.

Sauron's name is actually Mairon.
So he actually changed his name to sound more like Sauron-man, who's original name was Curumo.
Mad at this, Sauron-man changed his name to Sharkey and then he died.
He was a good friend.
>>
>>221168930
>Sauron gets the ring
>ringwraiths immediately start attacking him
what was the plan here?
>>
>>221169937
He was at the battle of Dol Guldur in the south of Mirkwood with Galadriel. The war was happening everywhere once the signal was given from Minas Morgul (skybeams aren't just a modern cinema trope).

We've finally outwitted tolkien
>>
>>221173117
Let's count how many apocalypses Arda(Old Earth in Tolkien's stories) had been through by that time:
>The Arda Marr (Melkor tries to seize the world, allowing evil to exist within it)
>Destruction of The Lamps (whole world goes dark for thousands of years)
>The War of the Powers (to protect the awakened Elves from Melkor, the Valar fight him, ripping the continents further apart, causing many Elves to not trust them)
>Death of The Two Trees (The Lamps replacements are fed to Ungoliant by Melkor, now called Morgoth by the Elves, and the world is dark for years again, until the First Age of The Sun)
>The War of Wrath (Beleriand; the western half of Middle-Earth sinks into the ocean. The Valar now swear to never do this again and the Second Age begins)
>The Reshaping (Iluvatar changes the shape of the world from disc to ball, sinking another continent, Numenor and removing Aman into another dimension entirely)
The world has had six apocalypses by the time of the War of The Ring. Seven if we count Melkor's discord which influenced how it was created, which is arguably the largest.
>>
>>221169809
Compared to his contemporaries? No. Compared to the Numenorean kings of old? Yes.

The only canon book is the original version of The Hobbit. The LOTR "books" were just soulless cash-ins riding entirely off of the nostalgia from their illustrious predecessor. Basically the 1950s equivalent of the Star Wars sequels.
>>
>>221168778
Isn't it meant to reference that they are both mayar or whatever they are called, Tolkien's version of angels essentially, that Saruman was put there to replace Sauron when he 'fell' or became corrupted or whatever the fuck happened.

nta but how's it going to look when Elrond comes back down the mountain alone?
>What happened to Isildur?
>He refused to destroy the ring, so I had to destroy him as well.
Would the human commanders have had at least some level of understanding or even trust that Elrond was speaking the truth? Maybe it would seem that the elves took advantage of the situation. Maybe Elrond refused to interfere because he was afraid the ring would influence him like it did Isildur? It's been years since I've seen the movies and longer still since the books so I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.
>>
>>221180609
why wasn’t elrond tempted to take the ring for himself? he was at mt doom itself where the influence is strongest?
>>
>>221187273
>Would the human commanders have had at least some level of understanding or even trust that Elrond was speaking the truth?
Probably not, since the best of them was corrupted on the spot without even putting the ring on. The rest of them would have just thought he kept the ring and off'd Isildur. OTOH, if the mountain were to explode like it did in RotK, it would be a moot point as there's your proof that the ring was indeed cast in (ofc they'd all be dead...that's a LOT of eagles). However, Elrond seemed pretty confident that if Isildur were to cast the ring into the volcano that they weren't just going to get blown to smithereens since he was standing right there on the walkway.
>>
>>221168526
Who the fuck is sauron man?
>>
>>221187381
In the book he never took Isildur into the forge. He didn't tell him to destroy it either just that keeping it would be bad juju.

In the movie he knows for a fact that the ring has a corrupting influence and won't allow itself to be destroyed, yet he still blames "men" for not destroying it. That scene makes no sense.
>>
>>221169002
Yeah I always forget that Isildur was like 7’6” or some shit.
