Why is so little attention given to how big of a cunt Carmela was?
>>
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH
THATS THE BOSSES WIFE YOUR TALKIN ABOUT
>>
she was so hot. unnngghhh
>>
her cuntiness is drowned out by how much of a cunt tony was
>>
>>221171232
shes' jewish, written by a jew
of course she's a horrible cunt
>>
>>221171442
He was Jewish, David Chase?
>>
>>221171232
During the entire show, she only had sex with Tony once. Tony had like 100x more sex with women who weren't his wife. Like wtf? Did this bother anyone else?

What? Are you trying to be fucking funny?
>>
Jewish psychiatrist scene is one of the best scenes on tv. Its blatant and honest and she doesnt take his advice.
>>
>>221171232
Fans like Carmela because she's well-written, well-acted, and interesting. It's not like the bitch wife characters in other shows like Boardwalk Empire or Breaking Bad, where they are just boring one-dimensional cunts.
>>
>>221171232
Because even in 2000, women were a protected class.
>>
>>221171232
Because the show constantly criticizes her hypocrisy
>>
>>221171861
also she is very pretty to look at, as opposed to horse face Anna Gunn.
that scene where Tony gives her the tight black dress, or the one he gives her the fur coat
Carmela definitely had her moments
>>
>>221171232
Everybody hated her at the time. Any modern audience sympathy is just reddit doing "media literacy" retconning.
>>
>>221171232
i call her a cunt 7 times before breakfast
wait
lets make it 8
>>
>>221171861
Carmela works because shes been in on what Tony does and lives the life style.
>>
>>
>>221172182
*snap*
>>
>>221171232
She wasn't a cunt at all, her husband and children were horrible and she had to keep their shit together, never knowing when the FBI was gonna come crashing through their front door. Without her mommytude, Meadow would have ended up working at the bada-bing.
>>
>>221171232
I wouldn't call her a cunt, but she could have just shut the damn door. And bought the juice with some pulp, I guess. I don't know, I would have drank the one with pulp, that shit's pretty good.
>>
>>221172555
Gabagool is often disappointing
>>
>>221171881
She only wanted her husband to stop cheating on her, there is no hypocrisy there.

>>
>>221172655
She didn't, that part of the business she accepted and dealt with. She didn't want Tony whoring around, it was pretty well established. The kids were entitled little shits and Meadow even came out alright.
>>
>>221172684
But enough about Karen, let's talk some more about how shit Carmella was.
>>
bc it’s assumed David Chase hates women other than his mother who he constantly made excuses for.
>>
>>221172697
I feel like just linking Tony talking about her growing up around Dickie and then acting shocked when he had mistresses
>The kids were entitled little shits
Oh the kids that randomly fell into her lap one day?
>Meadow even came out alright.
Grew up to be another mob wife cunt rationalizing and justifying everything that goes on and crying how it's not fair what the government does to Tony. Also ended up working as a criminal lawyer getting guys like him off. Same thing as Carmela just with a degree
>>
>>221172716
you mean Charmaine?

Even my mom couldn't stand her.
Don't try to retcon my life.
>>
>>221172849
Skyler has no hobbies, no friends, no childhood, no backstory, no family, and no hopes or dreams. She’s a shit character. People hate her because her only purpose in the show was to foil Walt.
>>
>>221172741
>I feel like just linking Tony talking about her growing up around Dickie and then acting shocked when he had mistresses
He kept that part of the conversation away from her. Remember that Carmella's parents were not in the game, so her entire exposure to that thing of theirs came from Tony.
>>
>>221172894
>le anecdotal evidence
Nice job, Corky.
>>
>>221171232

she cheats on Tony at least 4 times in the show
>keeps Priest around as a simp orbiter/surrogate boyfriend, watches movies and cuddles on the couch with him and leads him on sexually for her own gratification
>carries on long term emotional affair with Furio, would have fucked him in a heartbeat and probably had him kill Tony too
>made out with the wallpaper man, planned an afternoon delight fuck date with him too, only didn’t go through with it because he chickened out
>fucked AJ’s teacher while still legally married to Tony
>>
>>221173496

I read this as great cock and immediately agreed in my mind. what is wrong with me
>>
>>221173496
Furio almost killed Tony without her asking.
>>
She had a bunch of story arcs most of them centered around coping and justifying how much of a piece of shit Tony was. She was there to show how people enable sociopaths
>>
>>221171838
Cause she realizes he’s right and she would rather accept Tony in return for the wealthy lifestyle he provides
>>
>>221172697
At the end of the series you see that meadow has multiple bad traits from her psycho family. She literally argues with Finn by defending the necessity of the mafia and at the end marries a mob son and becomes a mob lawyer.

0% chance she would. She's gonna live in an apartment with a part time job for moral reasons? Fuck no, 1/100 people would do something like that.
>>
>>221171838
I like how she tries to redefine his advice in a way that will work for her and he doesn't let her get away with it and outright states what she needs to do if she truly wants to be a moral person.
>>
>>221175758
Goddman, Dee is so fucking hot.
>>
>>221173496
that's cheating once lol. The non sexual encounter don't count.
>>
>>221175991
The advice honestly wasn't remotely practical but he was never gonna see her again so I guess what does he care? I wonder if he would've given such advice to a fellow member of the tribe.

He seemed very morally strict and righteous, doubt he'd let another yid off without the same treatment.

>>
>>221173496
The priest was part of her larp as a catholic to cope with feeling guilty over enabling Tony and the mob life. Furio was the first guy that actually talked to her and also listened. Every other goon working for Tony was just a soulless ass kiss. I think wallpaper man was after they separated and so was the teacher so it wasn’t cheating.
>>
>>221172627
There’s a huge theme in the show about her being perfectly aware of what the price of being a mobster was, still made the choice to marry Tony for the benefits, only to moan at the consequences later.
In the end Carmella wanted the big house, the dresses, jewels, the respect all of it. She knew that mobsters fucked around on the side. Tony’s scary side turned her on. She is, in some respects an accomplice to all the horror Tony wrecks upon the world. She wears her catholic piety on her sleeves while comforting her psycho husband, and washing his blood stained clothes.
Did you watch the show OP? The criticism of the absurd levels of hypocrisy shown by several Soprano characters was a significant part of the show.
>>
>>221176601
>I think wallpaper man was after they separated
Nope, her and Tony were well and truly together when they kissed. The only reason he bailed on their next meeting was Davey told him about his experiences with Tony's goons while being indebted to him. Guy realised he was playing with fire even considering an affair with Carmela.

>>
>>221175991
The fact that complicity in evil is easy or that most people would do what Carmela did doesn’t make it right. The Jew therapist could’ve easily accepted blood money too and maybe most people would have but he didn’t
>>
>>221177287
It's obviously not right. I just meant most people, very much including Carmella, would live easily.
>>
>>221175142
You can tell the turning point in her life for the worst was after Jackie Jr died and she yelled at his sister for talking about the mob with outsiders
>>
>>221171232
I'd give attention to her big cunt
>>
>>221176601
She loved the priest's attention and that he obviously struggled with feeling for her. She gave up on him when she saw him acting similarly with Rosalie
>>
>>221175972
Neapolitans/Sicilians are already genetically pretty close, and most "white" Jews are all descended from 4 southern Italian women anyway
>>
>>221171861
This but also her cuntiness is very downstated and realistic and she's not just a cunt being a hindrance to the plot all the time.
>>
>>221172760
No, I mean Karen, Bobbies original wife and the literal only halfway decent mob wife in the show who did actually fit all criteria that anon listed, unlike Carmela.
>>
>>221171232
Because her abuse isn't as blatant and visually interesting as Tony's or Paulie's or whoever. Carmella can't go beat the shit out of someone or shoot them, but she's constantly threatening people with the implicit threat that she could sic Tony on them in some way or another
>>
>>221176601
wrong on all counts
>>
>>221179700
Bobby is objectively less morally impugned than the other mobsters for most of the series. At the time of Karen's death his only job is being Junior's driver and body man. He doesn't have a mistress, he'd never killed anyone, we don't even see him rough anyone up or make collections until after her death. He might as well have a regular job where he sometimes gets called in at night
>>
>>221171838
It's a retarded scene. What psychiatrist is gonna take the patient's claims about her husband at face value and then offer a non-medical opinion as a justification for refusing treatment? It's against medical ethics and makes no sense from a business perspective. IRL he would have just diagnosed her with PTSD and milked her for a while.

In S1 they gave her a personality and routine. She had an online business she was obsessed with, had regular gossip sessions with her sister, and had the typical snarky boss mom personality. That's not a lovable character, but they wanted to make her human. However, the writing rapidly declined in S1 so her business and very close relationship with Marie just disappeared, and her snarkiness turned into being hostile to Walt 24/7. She had become just another plot device to create new problems for Walt.

The scene where she tracks down and confronts Jesse captures her S1 persona perfectly. She is confrontational yet nervous, her threats sound kind of funny because she's out of depth. A good portait of a suburban karen type. But if that scene was done with S3+ writing it would play out very differently. They would have her drop a cringe badass monologue, then randomly have a crying screaming fit, then have her act traumatized by the encounter for the rest of the season and use it to torment Walt even more.

I cant imagine having goomahs on tap yet keeping some cunt like her around, but whaddayagonnado, let bygones be bygones.

This may be an unfair criteria, but for me I watched Sopranos after I'd watched Breaking Bad first. So Carmela doesn't come off as nearly as much of a cunt compared to Skyler. Edie Falco also delivers a much better performance. And while yes Carmela is a hypocrate bitch, because the key difference is Carm ostensibly knew exactly what she was marrying into, nevertheless when I watch Sopranos I just keep thinking "well she's not as bad as Skyler".

Lorraine Bracco was originally slated to play Carmela but didn't want another "mob wife" role.
probably for the best.
we can understand and empathize with Tony seeking extracurricular activity when his wife looked like a dyed blonde midget ghoul but not if she was one of the most iconic MILF actresses of all time
>>
>>221181086
Threat? What threat? I brought you a rigot pie and high school transcripts so you could write a letter of recommendation for my little daughter to Georgetown.
>>
>>221181769
Carmela is an infinitely more interesting character with a much better role, though I guess based on the pilot that'd just be a guess that it would end up that way. Bracco's kinda lucky she kept second billing the whole way through the series because Falco definitely deserved it more.
>>
>>221181755
>Skylar cheated
>Skylar smoked and drank during pregnancy despite already having a severely disabled child (implying she's done it before)

Skylar is disloyal to her man and damaging to her children
which are the two traits that make male AND female viewers hate a character (justifiably I might add).

But of course Vince Goyligan had to normieslop it up and make Walt the ebul selfish ab000sive drug kingpin
>>
>>221171861
Carmela is one of the best characters on TV-series, ever, and in Sopranos she contests Tony as one of the best.
She is complicated character who we see in forever war with herself.
>>
>>221181840
Yeah and it's also established in the first episode Skyler is kind of an inattentive, unaffectionate, selfish, shitty wife and is part of Walt's motivation for "Breaking Bad". But then I imagine Vince realized that was kind of problematic so tried to rewrite her more sympathetically but didn't really get there.
Overall Carm, while also a hypocrite cunt, is written and acted much better by comparison, I think it's why she doesn't frustrate me nearly as much. I can dislike Carm while also thinking she's kind of an interesting character, whereas Skyler just pisses me off every time she's on screen
>>
>>221171838
Second Opinion is one of the best episodes of the entire show and any top 10 that doesn't include it isn't serious. Pine Barrens and LTP are meme episodes
>>
>>221172849
She was intentionally put there as "just another shit part of Walt's life" but they tried to backpedal on that and insist anyone that disliked her in Season 1 was le wrong
>>
>>221182328
>She was intentionally put there as "just another shit part of Walt's life"
Nah they actually tried making her complex and give her human motivations in S1 even if she made it obvious that she didn't respect walt as a man. It's only in later seasons that she's unreasonable and hostile to walt 24/7 while also doing everything possible to make things worse.
