I honestly don't mind having diversity in a cast, but why do modern movies just have that forced look to the casting? You know the sort of corporate, tick all boxes, phony looking sort of ensemble. I live in an extremely racially diverse city and I don't ever see people that look or act like this. Is it a west coast thing or something?

>>221171404It's because they're not casting for a domestic audience with a realistically diverse ensemble of Americans of different ethnic backgrounds who can realistically interact with each other. Instead, they're trying to pander for an international audience so they smash together an international cast with a mainland Chinese person, a Nigerian, an Arab, etc. and the cast ends up having no chemistry.
