The monsters haven't ran since the first episode, right? They all just walk. In the first episode the teleporting tree was set to spawn you somewhere they didn't want them to go. Maybe to the children's tomb?Also maybe they should go into the cavern at night while all of the monsters are outside in town? But the monsters seem to have omnivision of the area or some kind of homing technique to know where every townie is at all times and if they're not playing by the rules.
