Final season should've been Butcher as the primary antagonist for the majority. He should have "killed" Homelander early on, with Ryan rehabilitating a now de-powered John in secret. During this period, Butcher spends several episodes killing off his former crew and supes, including A-Train, which causes Hughie to abandon him once and for all and support Ryan, whom he believes can stop Butcher, while being unaware of John's existence.Hughie obtains a vial of V-One and delivers it to Ryan in the hopes he'll join him in defeating Butcher.A few days later, Hughie goes to confront Butcher with Ryan, but they are both easily defeated by him. Suddenly, Homelander arrives, after living nearly a year as a human, having been injected voluntarily by Ryan with V-One. He tries in vain to reason with Butcher and makes the argument that if he (Homelander) can come back, anybody can, to no avail. Homelander and Ryan weaken Butcher to the point of near-death when Hughie tackles him off of Vought Tower, with Starlight barely able to save Hughie from death. Butcher dies in a manner almost identical to his comic ending.John reinstates Stan Edgar as Vought CEO, retires the Homelander persona, and continues to operate as a vigilante supe who also works to keep nu-Vought in check and actually acting in the interest of the people, under the new alias; Black Noir III. Nobody except Ryan, Hughie and Starlight will ever know he saved the world, or that he will continue to do so until his hair turns gray.The End.
