He is in the long run. Reading now and then is good, but bookmaxxing too much is unwise.
>>221172649I think I get what he's saying. During my time in the psych ward the only book they had was Jude the Obscure which isn't something you should hand to a bunch of suicidal headcases.

>>221172730If you love books, read! As long as you arent forgetting to live life occasionally then reading is nourishing to the soul. Tolstoy is the worst thing to read while incarcerated.
>>221172649Why do the prison systems work better than public education institutions in the modern age?
>>221172923>Why do the prison systems work better than public education institutions in the modern age?> No agenda pushing teachers that put education second blow their own personal world views.> Isolated environments with no distractions. > lots of silence to think. > Prison's have better libraries than most schools do. It's amazing how many times someone who was incarcerated would end up writing a best seller novel, or would leave with better art skills, math skills, actually come out more literate than they did going in. Would be in better physical shape too. Prisons beat out schools.
>>221172706one of the last modern adult swim shows that actually fit the spirit of the pre-2007 shows.
Reading books should be like drinking water, you do it when you feel like, usually a little bit every other day, maybe every day, but consistently. Sad that 90% of the human population just give no crap about it unless they are young enough to be compelled.
>>221172649I don't know, so far everything I've read from Tolstoy has been good

>>221172923>>221172989>>221173043The working g class got sentence the a facsimile of an education and I stead are indoctrinated in a rube factory. I didnt gwt assigned to read entire book till I was 15 years old and by then I had been reading for a couple years by my own volition. Classmates where borderline illiterate and couldnt get through lord of the flies and of mice and men. Prison is truly the first time many have access to books and the time to read.
>>221173000>one of the last modern adult swim shows that actually fit the spirit of the pre-2007 shows.I would say that it is the last of the gen x nostalgia driven shows on Cartoon Network. As Mike Tyson Mysteries was constructed around the 1960's and 1970's era Hanna Barbera. Scooby Doo template with a bit of classic Filmation thrown in. Josie and the Pussycats (the 1960's show), The Amazing Chan, Mr. T, Speed Buggy, and stuff like that. Most of the peak Adult Swim stuff was really feeding off the old Hanna-Barbera licenses that Cartoon Network has access to.

I read Anna Karenina over a decade ago and I remember deeply connecting with one of the characters. I don't remember it anymore but for a long time I felt like my calling was a peasant farmer.
