What were your thoughts about Mr. Robot?
>>
>>221173935
Was the sexual abuse storyline really necessary? It seemed like the writers were just ripping off from everything
>>
>>221173935
really high highs, really stupid lows. overall it's kino. Sam Esmail got TDS and rewrote the third and fourth seasons. you can piece together some of the original story via deleted scenes. Tyrell wasn't supposed to die/disappear, he was supposed to take over E-Corp and have his father in law assassinated and kidnap his child back.
the virtual realty heist is one of the best modern heist movies of all time.
I have re-watched it a few times.
Slaters best role
>>
I watched the show recently having avoided spoilers and the /tv/ zeitgeist while airing. overall it starts pretty good but then it gets far too self-important and that ultimately made the twists predictable which led to the series getting worse and worse. also dog waifus.
>>
>>221174388
totally agree. it gets kinda dumb at the end but it's still good. it's very well made and the style and music are both very cool.
>>
>>221173935
>made the tranny freak a villain
Based.
>>
>>221174388
Elaborate on the deleted scenes plz
I also got the vibe that TDS derailed S3 and 4. Elliot rants about Donald Trump in the beginning of S3 and in S4 you see Trump at the Deus Group party, and S3 was all about undoing the populist uprising and restoring the neoliberal order. Felt forced and like a reaction to Hillary losing. Have people pieced together the original plotline? The dark army and time travel stuff is in S1 and S2, so how would they have played out?
>>
>>221173935
i loved it
>>
>>221174695
Season 1 was a fucking masterpiece S2 was amazing too then it progressively gets a small bit worse each season but never so bad that it becomes actually bad, its still good all the seasons.
>>
>>221173935
I liked the computer stuff
could take or leave the schizo, homosexual, yakuza, CSI, prison break, pedophilia, alternate reality stuff
>>
>>221174757
The first 4 episodes did an amazing job detailing the tech references but then it all goes for muh character development and my daddy having a dick inside of me!
>>
>>221174717
We live in a kingdom of bullshit
>>
>>221173935
neat first season
neat beginning of second season
alright rest of second season
don't think i watched past there, show got too grand and large in scope
oh i do remember the e-corp hq riot scene, well shot, realistic and scary
>>
>>221174691
most of the deleted scenes revolve around
>Tyrell being a major character for S4 originally
>Price interactions with Colby (best scene in the series desu), and Tyrell
Price also had a lot of solo scenes that got cut. Based off what he says in the Colby scene, and his other deleted scene vibes he likely was going to be a whistleblower of sorts, but likely was going to fail and get killed/ a smear campaign.
>the Dark Army cult was supposed to be expanded upon from more scenes with Irving, Angela, and Cisco (flashbacks/cut S2 content)
Dark Army is a suicide cult based around quantum immortality, what White Rose shows everyone to initiate them is her shooting herself in the head. White Rose likely would have killed herself via shooting herself in front of Elliot in the original S4 ending.
>Angela and Agent Meryl Streeps daughter got more scenes together, fleshing out their relationship
>>
>>221174908
whoops sorry. Darlene and Agent Meryl Streeps daughter.
>>
yeah it went to shit and too far up in its own ass
basically revolved around the introduction of the car salesman guy
1-2 were great though
show ended with a fucking sci fi dimension jumping device
>>
>>221173947
The series was always about Elliot being an MK Ultra mind control victim. His fugue states, drug addiction, and multiple personality disorder all stemmed from his childhood trauma. The way the CIA would create a schism in the minds / personalities of children would be to subject them to unspeakable abuse.
>>
>>221175026
have you read programmed to kill?
yeah I agree, the csa stuff has to be there for Elliot to have multiple personality disorder or whatever it's called now.
I don't think it came out of nowhere.
>>
>>221174884
>neat first season
>neat beginning of second season
>alright rest of second season
>don't think i watched past there,

So many shows follow this pattern and hollywood doesn't learn. Crazy.

I technically watched everything, but yeah, it went downhill halfway through second season.
Third and fourth seasons were a drag and I watched in the background while multitasking doing other shit and only sat down for the final couple episodes. Just not worth the time.
>>
>semi-autistic nerd (fully functional and highly intelligent, but still...)
>has a normal social life
In every movie and every series with a similar trope.
>>
>>221173935
S1>S3>S4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>S2
>>
>>221175356
to the average viewer his life was fucked up
>drug addict
>state mandated therapy
>studio apartment
>cucked out of a relationship with your childhood best friend
>has a job only because childhood best friend got it for him, gay boss wants to molest him
>>
What the fuck was in the trunk?
The hacking time was a neat idea.
Loved the sequence with the evil corp. President and that music from that artsy movie with montages going on.
>>
10/10 direction and music and atmosphere
>>
>>221174388
I feel like rewatching also since its been a few years but there is so many tv shows to see that I havent. Profit, the prisoner, the pretender, the oa. I did love the show. Its in the top 20, for sure.
>>
> The main bad guy in this show is a tranny politician in china who runs a hacker group that secretly controls the world and who is trying to build a telporter powered by a nuclear reactor that will warp him to an alternate universe where he was born a woman

I am not kidding.
>>
>>221176538
Funny if that worked and he ended up in an alternate universe where he's born female in some slum of Mumbai.
>>
Great show.
>>
>>221173935
In the first episode 2 heterosexual people have sex. They don't show anything, and it cuts to them laying in bed afterward chatting.

In episode 3 to gay men have sex. They show one guy ramming the other from behind, they're both sweating and grunting and swearing. The guy driving pulls out and ejaculates on the other dude while making noises like you'd hear on some sort of nature documentary. Then the guy who just got cum all over him says "don't clean it up i like being dirty".

I stopped watching the show at that point. I don't want to see that shit. It's fucking vile, sickening and grotesque.

Anti-Chinese propaganda.

>really stupid lows
It's still baffling how he handled Tyrell in s4. It wouldn't have even been that fucking hard to give him more to do, he's present at that fancy dinner thing towards the end of s4 keeping all the shady oligarchs distracted and he gets murdered at the same time as Price does. And as if to rub salt in the wound Esmail has him popping up all the time in the final two episodes in Elliot's dream world. The final twist was also shitty

Overall worth watching all of it. Last season went off the rails, but one episode really stood out with this latino dude who could really act.
>>
>>221176294
the cinematography is really nice and interesting I have to concede, very few shots are boring to look at
>>
First two seasons were KINO, fell off quickly from there. Worth a watch.
>>
>>221174388
>Slaters best role

This right here. Easily.
>>
>>221177770
ok what's the problem?
>>
>>221178278
Season 2 fucking sucked. One the most classic examples of a sophomore slump we've ever seen that didn't involve a show being highjacked by woke faggotry.
>>
>>221178704
NTA but I hated that final reveal as well. It didn't ruin the show for me but it did knock it down a notch.
>>
>>221173935
Lured in the bitter and disillusioned and hit em with the "no ur actually just mentally ill lol"
Significantly better done than the joker, it at least didnt feel spiteful
>>
>>221178072
>he cinematography is really nice and interesting

I always want to pat thowrunner on the back and shake their hand whenever a television show takes the time to look kino visually instead of simply looking like a tv show. Mr. Robot was a masterclass in this.
>>
>>221173935
it's a good show
>>
>>221175085
Thats what happens when you write a story that lasts 3 season but the big wigs want more.
>>
To this day I have no fucking clue what the ending of this show was actually supposed to be about
It jumped the shark so fucking hard in the final season
>>
>>221180267
Wrong! It was perfect! Only thing I wanted was more on tyrell and the machine white rose was making.
>>
>>221173935
I watched it while it was on and have forgotten most of it outside of s1, which was p good. It wasn't a great show imo. It had some great parts, good cinematography and production, but plenty TV mediocrity. Probably would be a great show if it were written all out beforehand made into two seasons and finished.

A number of sequences stick with me from the show like the hotel lobby shooting in s2:

>>
>>221180267
Yeah it did get a little out there up its own ass towards the finale. Like it didn't ruin the show or anything but the navel gazing got so excessive towards the end it ended up going up through its own nose out its ass back into its ear before getting lost somewhere between its armpit and big toe. Like really who fucking knows.
>>
>>221174593
i'm glad they didn't pull a cop out "the tranny was actually right all along" at the end
