Always hilarious to see the type of men chosen to be "attractive" in TNG. Half of them look like Walmart employees of the month like pic related, the other half like puppies in human form such as Okona.Took Voyager having a female head writer before we got any attractive male guest stars. I'm still convinced that noone on staff understood that Frakes is hot af before they got flooded with fanmail.

>>221174538/tv/ Community ComplaintWe want to raise an ongoing concern shared by multiple users regarding the state of discussion on /tv/, specifically around long-running general threads.Over time, a number of generals — including Pluribus, Alien Earth, Stranger Things, Star Trek, and others — appear to be relying on post bots or artificial reply inflation to maintain prominence. This practice distorts organic engagement, crowds out genuine discussion, and gives a misleading impression of community interest.Because of this, many users feel that allowing generals to continue after the 12th would further erode the quality of the board. The request being made is straightforward:That general threads no longer be allowed going forwardThat discussion return to individual, topic-focused threads driven by real participationThat artificial boosting, intentional or otherwise, be addressed transparentlyThis complaint isn’t about targeting specific fandoms, but about preserving fair visibility and authentic conversation on /tv/. Many of us would prefer a board where threads rise or fall based on actual interest, not automated activity.Submitted in good faith by concerned users.

You are nothing to me but another entry in my personal log.I will out-debate you with a level of Federation-approved precision the likes of which has never been seen on this quadrant, mark my words. You think you can get away with saying that on subspace? Think again, ensign. As we speak, I am contacting my network of instructors, admirals, and slightly disappointed Vulcan professors, and your academic record is being reviewed right now, so you’d better prepare for the inquiry. The inquiry that wipes out the pathetic little reputation you call your posting history. You’re on report, kid. It’s honestly hard to ignore at this point that /trek/ looks botted as hell. The same threads sit there forever, reply counts jump in weird bursts at dead hours, and half the posts read like slightly reworded copies of each other. You’ll see identical phrasing, the same arguments looping every few pages, and accounts that only ever show up to bump the same general. Organic discussion doesn’t behave like that. Real threads spike when something happens and then cool off. /trek/ just hums along mechanically, like it’s hooked up to a life support system. If that’s all real users, fine, but it sure doesn’t move like real users.

Why does Voyager fall back on technobabble so fucking much? You have perfectly good episodes like Jetrel, Meld, and The Thaw and then halfway through there's like a 2 minute conversation about made-up nonsense or you have some last minute techno solution to the problem. And I'm pretty sure it only gets worse after Seven joins / Taylor & Piller leave. I can understand preferring it over DS9 if you don't like how much that show deviates from Trek, but I have no idea how anyone can put this above TNG. I'm watching TNG episode "Rightful Heir" on Pluto TV right now. I have never seen this episode before. Why is there a simulated voiceover narrative describing every move the characters make? Was it part of the original episode, or has it been recently added?
>>221210619yes
>>221210619Nevermind. I asked Gemini the same questions, and got this reply:The simulated voiceover you are hearing is Audio Description (AD), an accessibility feature for visually impaired viewers that was added to the episode years after its original broadcast. It was definitely not part of the original 1993 airing of "Rightful Heir."Pluto TV includes these secondary audio tracks on select classic series to make them more accessible, but a known glitch or an accidental setting change can sometimes cause it to turn on automatically. How to turn it off:Through the Pluto TV App: While the episode is playing, press up or down on your remote to bring up the playback controls. Select the Audio & Subtitles icon (it looks like a speech bubble or a gear). Under the Audio section, make sure it is set to standard English instead of English [Audio Description] or English AD.Through your TV's main settings: Since Pluto TV sometimes mimics your streaming hardware's system settings, check your device's global menu. Go to Settings > Accessibility and ensure that features like Audio Description, TalkBack, or Voice Guide are turned off.
>>221210733The one thing wrong with Gemini's description is that my access to the audio settings is done by pressing the selection button. If I press up or down, it simply changes the channel.

As noted in "Family Business", all of the runabouts assigned to Deep Space 9 were named after Earth rivers. The Rio Grande is a river in North America, part of which serves as a natural border between the United States and Mexico. The computer voice of the Rio Grande was provided by Majel Barrett. The Rio Grande was the only one of the original three runabouts (Rio Grande, Ganges, and Yangtzee Kiang) assigned to the station to remain intact throughout the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine seven-year run. It did crash in "The Ascent", but it was apparently salvaged. The Rio Grande was the first Runabout piloted by Sisko in "Emissary" and the last one he piloted in "What You Leave Behind" before his disappearance. In "Treachery, Faith and the Great River", the Rio Grande (whose name, translated to English as "Great River", is part of the title of the episode), was inadvertently given the registry of the USS Shenandoah, rather than its own previously-established registry number. The Rio Grande was shown with phaser banks on the upper forward section of the nacelle in some episodes and without the phasers in other episodes.Starting with series premier "Emissary", the script pronunciation guide used the standard English pronunciation: "REE-oh GRAND." [1] In "The Siege", Quark used the Spanish pronunciation: "REE-oh GRAHN-day," though no pronunciation was provided in the script. [2]The Micro Machines runabout model was marked as the Rio Grande, as was the AMT/Ertl model kit (on the packaging, at least, as the builder could name the model Rio Grande, Ganges, or Yangtzee Kiang) and the Furuta kit.

A new Star Trek series—except it’s actually good and entertaining and hopeful and probes the human condition, perhaps?
https://youtu.be/N6r6k4D6mVQ?si=Bjb_vw1ZuIcUthZ6
>>221217946Archive world makes sense, thriving new civilization absolutely not.If you want AI to produce anything interesting you need to feed it more than half of what you want, the more you let that thing generate the more generic it becomes, pun intended.
>>221218181>Archive world makes sense, thriving new civilization absolutely not. It's just the Gaia colony all over again, but yeah the prompts certainly need some help to not be totally nonsense.>"Ruins of Yesterday">Sensors detect the drifting wreckage of an erased timeline caught in a temporal eddy — the remnant of a Krenim Empire that was completely undone by a temporal cold war incursion.>A-plot: The crew beams aboard a decaying Krenim warship to salvage chroniton particles needed for the Neverwere’s drive. They discover a handful of surviving Krenim civilians who were never supposed to exist, and who have been plotting their own return to the Prime timeline using a Krenim temporal weapon.>B-plot: Linis Paris bonds with a young Krenim girl who reminds her of her Ocampa heritage, while “Timeless” Harry Kim (quietly aware he was her husband in another life) battles his own misgivings of unintended consequences by aiding the aliens.Moral dilemma: Do they help the Krenim refugees return to existence, or prevent them from bringing a dangerous temporal weapon back to the Prime timeline?I'd watch this one
>>221218278Yeah, that ones better.I generally ask computer to wrap the A-plot around three characters: one command, one bridge crew, one guest (alien or visitor mostly). B-plot goes to two: a Specialist (Chief Engineer/Medical, Astrometrics, Deflector Control, Cetacean Ops) and a different bridge crew. Then wrap it in a Teaser, 3 Acts, Moral of the Story structure before taking my own quality passes.
>>221218415Good tips, I suppose for more accurate prompts I should form a solid idea of who gets which roles on the ship rather than let AI randomly assign them, it keeps wanting Linis to be at the helm (which I guess fits if her version of Tom taught her piloting) while I'd thought that she'd fit better as chief medical officer having grown up under the tutelage of The Doctor in her timeline.
