Hate Nolan all you want but this is one of the best movies of this century
>>221196969i liked it too mr. 6969
>>221196969It's a good movie, ruined bay a stupid ending.
>hurrrr love conkers scienceFat ogre shits were the absolute best part of this fucking SLOP.
>>221196969Mediocre movie beloved by midwits
>>221196969Have you had any recent concussions?
My family and I agreed we enjoyed Project Hail Mary more
>>221196969>>221197042based
>>221196969I unironically agree. I have seen every Nolan movie from Memento through Tenet. They all fall between a 4/10 and 7/10. But Interstellar was a legitimate 9.9/10. I subtract 0.1 because he can't write an ending, but who cares? The joy of the ride was one of the most engrossing movie experiences I have ever had at home.
>>221196969I liked it better when it was called Epic Dream I Had When I Dozed Off in a Planetarium in 4th Grade. Nolan is David Lean without a brain, Kubrick without taste, vintage Ridley Scott without cocaine, a WASP Spielberg but the 2000s Spielberg. What is his next movie? The Tibetan Book of the Dead? Lost in Space but serious? The Shadow but it's $900 billion and actually shot in the 1930s?
The premise that some all encompassing blight destroys earth and isn't mitigated is retarded. The irony is that is the perfect weapon an alien force would use prior to invasion, a literal grey-goo, but it actually works. But it wasn't an alien invasion movie, it was a preachy, low iq, ill thought out collection of emotional manipulation moments (punctuated by emotionally manipulative music). It was a highly feminine movie. The dumbest people i know like it.The worst part is the more i run my mind through the scenes what becomes most apparent is the absolute vacancy of the film. It is visually an empty film (barring Foy, the best part of the film). There is no real imagination towards the film in setting, or sets, or creativity. It can't even be called "close to real" fiction because every aspect of the space program looks nothing like our space programs. I feel like i could walk onto the set and poke holes in the facade. It is at most, a Potemkin village of a movie. No premise to bring us to reality, no substance to the dialogue in place only platitudes, no good premise to take us out of reality into the sci-fi, no set piece that doesn't feel like an Apple ad a la Villeneuve. To call it a midwit film has lost its meaning. But it is. Nolan is a terrible movie maker, I am willing to bet big he doesn't even have an internal monologue.
>>221196969Interstellar fucking sucks>>221197255>Project Hail MaryUnwatchable movie made for retards
>>221196969>Its love! Love can transcend space and time!High-school tier writing
>>221196969It's perfectly fine. No worse than all the other upper mid we consider classics.
>>221198820It's literally true, though, you dumb manchild.
>>221198920this beautiful soul gets it
>>221196969I wanna watch it in IMAX if I have the chance.
>>221196969>that part where McConahuehuehue is crying and you feel literally nothing because Nolan doesn't know how to write people having intense emotions
fumbles the ending with magic shitthe movie becomes a wet fart the very second after its best set piece
>>221197626>I liked it better when it was called Epic Dream I Had When I Dozed Off in a Planetarium in 4th Grade.lol
>>221196969Interstellar is garbage. Project Hail Mary is basically Interstellar if Interstellar was actually good. lol
>>221199097go back, vomitter
>>221199126No.
>>221196969The earth part with the family drama ruined it. I fucking hate every female actress in it.They cant act, and nolan cant write a good script for them
>>221198961>Nolan doesn't know how to write people having intense emotionsvery true… unless it’s already been written for him.https://youtu.be/GaOtLc9EeMQ
>>221197255Notice how every fan of Project Hail Mary is a chad with a wife and children. Only incels love Incelstellar.
>>221199097>Interstellar is garbage. Project Hail Mary is basically Interstellar if Interstellar was actually made for retarded children. lolFIXED
>>221196969>far future humanity creates a black hole to lure a corn farmer into outer space so he can travel back in time to tell his daughter how to solve gravity to get him laid with Anne Hathaway on another planet>one of the best movies of anything anywhere
>>221199186Every fan of that shit movie is mentally ill redditor
>>221196969agreed. at least a 9/10
>>221197081>>221197760>>221198820>>221199252Imagine your criteria of judging a movie being how much sense does it make, never you mind it all makes sense within the logic of the movie. Why are you even here? Go read a newspaper or something
Nolan fails at eevrything Villeneuve succeeds at.
>>221196969It was really good (except for when you remember that a third of a 3 hour film is just exposition), but not in Nolan's top 3
>>221199171True.
>>221196969It's literally just Gunbuster but worse
>>221199186My brother is married with 5 children and his favorite movie is interstellar. Anyways why all the movie tribalism
>>221199337Villememe can't make movie. At least Nolan made something worthwhile in the beginning
>>221199316If a movie asks you to turn your brain off is objectively a bad movie
>>221199626>It's literally just Gunbuster but worseThis
>>221196969True but it´s the exception, not the rule. Traditionally Nolan movies have interesting concepts and even very competent cinematography but he consistently fails at conveying emotion on most of his movies. Interstellar is a rare case on which he happened to succeed.
a test
>>221196969Are you fuckin retarded?
>>221200011holy shit my IP range has been unbanned.Well I came here to share my very important thoughts: I love watching Interstellar!I don't like the actors, I don't like the characters they portray and I don't like their performances. I don't like the dialogue. And I think the storyline is stupid. But for some reason I love the movie. it's a combination of the music, the effects and TARS + CASE. they are used sparingly enough that I'm always wanting more.
>>221196969It's not even within the top 10 movies that year:>Dawn of the Planet of the Apes>Nightcrawler>Birdman>Edge of Tomorrow>John Wick>Gone Girl>Boyhood>Snowpiercer>The Grand Budapest Hotel>Whiplash>Fury>The Imitation Game
>>221200218>Boyhood >Whiplash>Fury>Gone girl>The imitation GameUh sure.
>>221200250>manually mistyping and uncapitalizing "Gone girl" and "imitation Game"shiggy
>the most powerful force in the universe is love
>>221200931More powerful than a giga black hole
>>221199186Bold of you to assume that anon wasn't talking about his mommy and daddy.
>>221196969>future giga advanced humans created an elaborate puzzle for us to solve so we "discover" some equation for faster than light travel and colonize the solar system or some shit>instead of just giving us the cure for the corn plague
>>221201052The future people can't figure out time. It's all wibbly wobbly. The best they could do was lock into Murph's love for her daddy to figure out where to put out the gravity equations. It wouldn't work well using blight cure
Least intelligent astronauts in all of cinema
>>221199316Imagine your criteria for adverising a movie being how scientifically accurate the black holes are
>>221201052>instead of just giving us the cure for the corn plague
>>221196969Fumbled the ending, otherwise it's pretty good.
>>221204002Yeah, I didn't understand how his grandmother got there at the end. What a random thing that came out of nowhere. I guess she was one of the time travelers that was giving him help out in space or something
>>221196969The first hour is great. Then it turns into one of those modern animes aimed at women where they mix ridiculous shmaltzy romance with scifi, and they save the universe with the power of love or something stupid.
I watched it at the cinema on a date with a university student from Kenya I found on okcupid. She gave me a handjob.Thought the movie was lame, especially whenever they talked about "quantum data". Yeah, all we need is some quantum data, then we can travel to the magic bookshelf.
>>221196969Absolutely fucking not. It's not even one of the best Sci-fi movies of the century. Hell, even Project Hail Reddit mogs it hard
>>221196969I saw Project Hail Mary and all I could think was "this is like a MCU version of Interstellar directed by James Gunn"
>>221198920Kek
Nolan is soulless McDonalds Arthouse and your taste is shit
>>221196969It was pretty shit desu.
>>221199316You can't have a "realistic near-modern sci-fi" movie and then have "love transcends time and space".Take Pluto Nash for example. I think that movie's a great movie, and i wrote this btw: >>221197760. There is nothing inherently wrong or jarring about Pluto Nash as a movie, I'd even guess that 99% of people never even saw the twist coming. It's a pretty linear adventure movie with great physical sets, charismatic leads, "interesting humour" (murphy isn't for everyone), and a good, novel, fanciful story.Interstellar is incongruent in its application and theme. In what it appears to be and what it says. This can work well for movies where that is the aim and goal - Cabin in the Woods is an excellent example. But ultimately Interstellar failed because it is poorly written and understood.
>>221196969You're right but /tv/ can't admit it. Nolan peaked here. His filmmaking is the best it ever got. Great editing, great visuals, great story, great acting, great score.
>are you familiar with the concept of... time dilation?
>>221205955Based. You're right.
>>221207452>You can't have a "realistic near-modern sci-fi" movie and then have "love transcends time and space".i mean, you can, but not in a Nolan script, also take Kubrick's 2001, it has a similar climax
>>221196969It's not even the best movie from the year it was released. Christopher Nolan has never made a good movie. Never.
>>221196969Objectively true and it filters the "science is my religion" crowd hard. I know two people who dislike it, one is a chudcel and the other is a hardcore feminist, both as insufferable as you can imagine.
>>221208918Thanks. (I'm trans if it matters)
>>221197081>hurrrr love conkers scienceIf that is the message you got out of the movie you were quite unironically filtered
>>221209059>chudcel = ugh "love" something i'll never feel>feminist = ugh white male protagonist something i'll never be
>>221209146More or less yeah. It's not even so much about love, that's just the placeholder for human exceptionalism. But this is the one Nolan movie that actually filtered a lot of people, and not by way of them not paying attention to some convoluted detail, but not getting the message altogether.
>>221196969the part from the beginning where they teach about the moon landing as cold war propaganda because with how hard global warming is making it to grow anything they need tons of farmers and not that many kids interested in science and engineering is 100% a glimpse into our future
Watch red planet
>>221197081Would that granny btw
>>221209389I wish we needed more farmers and whatnot, instead they need low level service workers, literal hell.
>>221197081>blank wall>feminine bedsheetsI'm confused. Where's the live love laugh graffiti?
>>221204733not sure if bait...
>>221197103this>>221197255they're both garbage
>>221208971Neither of those points help your argument
>>221196969it's the most retarded piece of media offered to the world since the Ernest moviesbut those are SUPPOSSED to be ridiculous
>>221197081I threw up in my mouth
>>221209111Everyone knows that all transgender 'people' are fans of Interstellar. Get better taste in movies, you incel.
Interstellar was a shit movie and I figured out the ending as soon as they showed the distortion. Shit movie that's the same as Perfect Storm, only memorable thing is the wave, oh and Matt Damon acting more like the faggot he probably is in real life.
Say what you want about Disclosure Day, but I have no doubt whatsoever that Spielberg's version of Interstellar would've been warmer, more soulful and better in general than Nolan's version of Interstellar.
