One year later and KPOP Demon Hunters is still charting in Netflix's Global Top 10. A feat never done by any content in its history.

I wonder how much regret Sony has in rejecting this record smashing movie, thinking Korean content wouldn't do well even though KDRAMA and KPOP are global sensations.

Netflix once again shows that the new media companies know how to play in the entertainment space better than the incumbents.

My elementary school aged nieces are obsessed with kpop and I whenever I come over to visit this movie plays in the background.
I imagine many girls watch it atleast twice a week as well.

It's 'cause Zoey is the cutest maknae. But when she raps, she goes hard.

Why do only terrible things become popular?
>>
>>221197607
Because the songs are catchy and heroines are written like normal people with actual flaws.
>>
>>221197794
Zoey has no flaws

If KPDH got a theatrical release first it would underperform. People won’t wager $50-$100 on a movie they might not like. But since the barrier was so low, everyone gave it a chance.

Sony managed to make a Frozen-tier hit but fumbled it so badly it ended up with Netflix

Because it's pretty good

I'm sure the basic plot was generated by AI though lol

Kids are stupid and ritualistic and like to watch /repeat the same movie every day. Mi niece watch cars every day along kpop. she just like the songs and say her favorite lines.

I watched Ace Ventura and Austin Powers on VHS every day. There are Family Guy and SpongeBob episodes I must have seen dozens of times. That’s how millennials ended up so retarded.

For context, the second place title that charted the longest is "All Quiet on the Western Front" at only 17 weeks. KPDH is still going strong on week 53 now.

so what
>>
>>221198708
Nawh, Sony would be stupid to think this wasn't a big deal. This is why they partnered with Netflix to be the studio for the next set of KPDH movies.
Sony also asked to be the exclusive distributor of the soundtrack cause they wanted to get as much coin as they could to save face from this horrible decision.
Face it, at least in this case, the new guy really out did the old boomer company.

Golden is the best pop song of the past 10 years. Hit so many deadlift PRs listening to it.

kids will watch the same movie like 50 times

>>221197607
Because its a fun movie about girls and little girls can watch it and then when they play with their friends, they can say, "lets play kpop demon hunters, i'll be this girl and you be that girl." Its the same reason Frozen was a huge hit

If anything, this just proves that the Netflix library has dropped heavily in quality if one movie stays in the top 10 for over a year. It indicates there is nothing else on the platform that can rise to the top.
>>
This is proof.
>>
>>221197607
Most teenager girl (and boys) when kpop was a thing now they are early twenties with alot of money to consume. Just like millenials when they got their first job.

Goy must consume.
>>
>>221197607
kids just keep rewatching the same thing over and over
>>
>>221200776
Kpop is nowhere near as popular in the English-speaking world as the internet would have you believe. The theatrical release of the last two episodes of that tranny's clown cartoon outgrossed every kpop theatrical event in the U.S. by a huge margin. This is just a kids movie they're repeatedly watching. The same kind of audience that got Baby Shark and Gangnam Style to huge view counts.

We don't care about how successful our jewish overlords' products are, we aren't Gen Xim/Xers and boomers. We only care about demons getting btfo

One of the biggest blunders in modern cinema. This movie could have easily been the next Frozen. 1-1.5 billion in box office easily, and would have made much more than that in merch. Fucking idiots, lol.
>>
>>221200852

The first three mean nothing. Conan has shilled for third world countries where people eat dirt. I looked up the Beatles claim and can only find comments regarding BTS' global "sales." "Sales" in quotes because those numbers include streams, which are obviously heavily inflated by the same people listening to a song over and over again. It's a lot harder to get someone to buy a physical product than it is to listen to the same song over again on a service they already use.

No BTS concert movie screening in the U.S. has grossed more than this year's Elvis concert film. That's kind of shocking given Elvis has been dead for nearly 50 years. It's even worse when you consider the ticket prices for those screenings are inflated due to distributors doing mandatory 4DX screenings.

idk, probably the massive asian market and kpop freaks watching it 10x on repeat
i personally consider myself pretty open but couldn't watch past 20 mins
i now consider kpop standing alongside gastronomy and bottomless brunches as the only things gayer than being gay, and i think south korea needs some kind of calamity like a major war or something to bring them back down to earth - and maybe north korea were right
>>
>>221202263
same, the songs are basically weaponized jingles
you don't even have to like it, your brain just loses the roll and starts looping the chorus while you're trying to sleep
