Is Breaking Bad worth watching? It got a lot of hype when it was out, but I'm afraid it's just one of those modern dramas where every episode is just trying to build up enough suspense to get you to watch the next one; and every season climaxes in a cliffhanger to get you to watch the next season.

It is legitimately one of the best TV shows post 2000, however surely you know that's a low bar. If you like TV generally it should be engaging fare.

There's nothing very interesting in the show to think about -- it's mostly just about the plot. It is terribly overrated, but a lot of people like it, so I'd give it a shot. 5th season is terrible, although there's some ridiculous stuff in the previous seasons too.

You're right in that it relies very much on cliffhangers and "ooh, I wonder what happens next" style of story telling. That said, it was very enjoyable to watch the story unfold, and it was frankly pretty good. I have no interest whatsoever to rewatch it though as I know the whole thing is based on twists and cliffhangers and I have a vague recollection on how things go so it won't bring anything new on a rewatch unlike a quality drama. You should watch it though if youre into a long running crime/drug show with plenty of action
