Jurassic World: Dominion (2022) is revealed to have been the most expensive film ever made, with a gross budget of $658 million
>>
>>221206133
lotr was more expensive. I think they're still in the red and never made a penny with it. Officially
>>
>>221206165
No, Lord of the Rings was under $300 mil for the production of the whole trilogy combined. Remarkably efficient per-movie
>>
>>221206201
Jackson had to sue them because they made no money and found new ways in which lotr "lost" money
>>
>>221206254
>"lost" money
i.e. the production costs suddenly became higher
>>
>>221206133
hollywood accounting.
>>
>>221206133
Hollywood is just doing money laundry at this point.

Money is not real, if you are a jew.
>>
lmao
It costs a lot to wink at the audience like this, you guys!
>>
why is bro on a scooter?
>>
>>221207518
Dinos started rampaging around a commercial area very suddenly. Scooter guy is just commuting to or from work or something, and can't see the dino that's about to eat him because he has earbuds in

because the actors got paid shit. Jurassic Dominion had to pay the returning World stars as well as the Park stars. Jeff Goldblum alone was probably 20m. No one in LOTR made 20m for their role.
>>
I love dominion unironically. The best dino action in the franchise, seeing everyone together is cool, my only actual complaint is that the movie needed a few more deaths including some actual side characters. Barry and the woman in white in minorly expanded roles and both getting wrecked would have sufficed.

Also it would have been big expensive regardless, but the reason it's the MOST expensive is less the movie's fault and moreso that they were the first major film to start production back up during COVID.
>>
>>221207638
>riding your scooter into a square with two massive carnivorous theropods

why
>>
>>221207906
because the scene gets filmed without discussing it with the CG slaves first. The cg slaves just try to make it work
>>
>>221206133
It’s fucking garbage too.
>>
>>221206133
Is there someone in production that hates the Carnotaurus? He gets beat up by every other dino.
>>
>>221206133
>"UUUR DUUUUR IT COSTED A BAZILLION, QUADRUQUILION, TRILINION, GORILION BOOTYLION DOLLARS THERE FOR IS GUD EHEHEHEHEH"
>>
>>221206133
The dinosaur movie about stupid fucking locusts cost that much?
>>
>>221207638
Scooter brothers! We are scooter- ACK!
>>
>>221206133
Yet they only killed the guy on the scooter

I guess that's why they made a quick cashgrab afterwards using the same assets

The locusts are boring but I still liked it more than Fallen Kingdom
>>
>>221208960
why
>>
>>221208999
Because I like the setting and story, also the forest and the dinos they have there are cool, seeing Grant again was nice too
>>
>>221208960
Who is that?
>>
>>221206133
>gross budget of $658 million
How is this even possible? It's literally impossible to make a profit with this budget unless you make like $2 billion
>>
>>221208844
OP here. The point isn't to praise the movie for being expensive. The point is to laugh at it for somehow having that budget while being such a piece of shit
>>
>>221206133
This movie just Mandela effected itself into existence, I watch every jurassic park in the theater, this movie never happened in the original timeline
>>
>>221206133
I ain't never seent it
>>
>>221206133
Wikipedia says that it's actually Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $536 million
Where did you get your info OP?
>>
>>221206649
I found a bat quarter in the dryer when I did laundry the other day.
>>
>>221209336
Im not making fun of you, OP. Im making fun of people who unironically care about how many money a movie cost. Cause if theres something that already proove how bad a high budget project can actually sucks, its movies and tv shows

Notice how background characters like this who die in movies are always white? Really makes you think.
>>
>>221209603
I see, thank you.
Crazy to think that the two most expensive movies of all time or both part of two different abortive reboot trilogies made by gigantic studios. It's the entire direction of the industry since the 2010's in a nutshell.

>Literally allowing highly dangerous animals worse than lions and tigers to run loose in a highly populated civilian area where people are still intermixed and running toward the dinos instead of away.

"It makes a great scene you guys. As long as Chris Pratt looks kewl cuz he's the main character."
>>
>>221209644
>direction of the industry
Though on the positive side, Dominion grossed hundreds of millions less than the Jurassic movie before it, and Rebirth (2025) continued that trend. It's on a trajectory where it loses a large section of the audience each time and they can't keep making terrible Jurassic World sequels for much longer.
It's headed toward a long hiatus or some impossible sounding creative shakeup which makes it good again
>>

I suspect that a lot of this is part of some kind of boom and bust cycle, though I don't quite know if it's a part of the wider economic cycle or not.
>>
>>221206133
This was one of the worst things I've ever watched

Jurassic world 2 was shit

90% of the budget was accommodating her notorious diet
>>
>>221209874
Yes, but in a weirder more interesting to talk about way. The 3rd one here was shit in more of a "this isn't even about dinosaurs anymore, who cares?" kind of way
>>
>>221209909
Well spent
>>
>>221207673
>(((Jeff Goldblum))) alone was probably 20m.
What did you expect from a jew?
>>
>>221210210
>>221207673
Goldblum's entire net worth is estimated to be around $50 million. It's doubtful that he made more than a third of that from just one role
>>
>let's have this movie be about an agriculture conspiracy, where the dinos don't matter
What were they thinking??
>>
>>221206133
>a gross budget of $658 million

1/4 of that was paid for by the British tax payers, as the movie was shot in the UK and used lots of Brit cast and crew.
>>
>>221211355
Don't forget the extraneous human clone plotline. Also
>Oops turns out we built Jurassic World on top of an active volcano that's about to go kaboom!
>>
>>221206133
Did I watch this? That scene looks unfamiliar.
>>
>>221211605
It's the one that brings back Neill and Golblum and Dern so that there can be an epic cast reunion, but doesn't really give them good plot reasons to be there.
>>
>>221207906
It's faster than running.

They basically make a little shell company then transfer all the money to that company and go: "you had a contract with company one, but they gave all their money to company two so now company one can't pay you! Yes, I own both companies."

It's like how rich people can put all of their money in a trust then declare bankruptcy to get out of paying back their loans because you're not allowed to consider the money in the trust even though they can consider it when they approve them for loans.
>>
>>221206649
True, but the Bible says that every penny they steal from you is another gift in the afterlife the Lord will bequeath to you and another step towards damnation due them
>>
>>221211605
It's from when they go to the illegal dino market in Malta and the dinos get loose and then Chris Pratt does a James Bond chase to escape the evil raptors and get to the strong independent black woman's TaleSpin plane
>>
>>221209755
They need to just make another Camp Cretaceous show that series was awesome
>>
>>221207673
>no one made 20m for their role

i'm sure they made way more from their role in the end

The CGI looks like indian AI slop and the animatronics look worse than Dark Crystal so i'm c alling bullshit

It was 2021/2022. AI video generators barely existed and were not yet capable of anything even passably convincing

A big thing is simply that theater greed and studio greed feeds into each other.
If tickets and food went down movies would improve.
