I hated this movie.
I hated the book because I was an agnostic in high school and this book hated on agnostics weirdly hard.Later I learned there's no real difference between atheist and agnostic for 99% of people who identify as either, besides intellectual strawmans that dont exist.

Yann Martel (the author of the Life of Pi novel) lives in my city, and he even comes into my place of work. He isn't Indian (though it's obvious he desperately wishes he was some kind of Central/South Asian), but he's obviously Jewish. Hugely entitled, and it's clear he's frustrated that he struck one big success and will NEVER write another novel that receives anywhere near the recognition of Life of Pi. Also, his children are super badly behaved, I figure he spends a lot of time writing his other dog shit books instead of teaching them how to behave in public. They look like pre-teens but act like five-year-olds. When I saw his name at work, I didn't recognize him, and he seemed insulted.
