My best friends were from age 13 to 18 and those friendships still had great moments til about age 25. Though those first years were definitely some of the best, when we'd get some beers find some hole to crawl in smoke pot and be pure bros. What really set us down a negative path happened all the way in 9th grade when half our main friend group (2 guys) went to the art school instead of normal HS. We still saw each other for 10 years and I even saw one of them at my friend's wedding last August but that was no doubt the beginning of the end. They changed as the school influenced them and slowly they lost value for the bond we established in 7 to 8th grade. I think they truly didnt appreciate what we had and everyone is at a loss for it. We were all artists, musicians, and the art guys also filmmakers. If we kept it together I have no doubt we'd have a WKUK sketch show aswell as a band like Slint or more punk maybe. Nobody is willing to admit what we gave up but me, too hard a pill for them to swallow, when you have that bond you should cultivate it hard, you never know how far we could've gone because we gave it up. So many legends origin was a friendship just like ours

It's really interesting reading this topic. Peoples thoughts and views on friends. Also the lack of adult understanding against the movies nostalgia of being 12. You don't have the same friends at 12 as you do later in life cause your priorities change. Your relationship with parents, siblings, "grown ups" and so on is different. The movie really shows how much the boys are willing to go through this effort of finding a dead body, but then also shows the older group just shows up in a car on a whim. It meant far less to Ace and his gang, they didn't earn it, but they're not 12. There are certain things that are harder when you're younger, but also things that are far more fascinating. It changes. A lot of people talk in here like it's the same.
