why do people complain about movies not being realistic and not "making sense"? its fiction.
>>
everyone is a cynical faggot these days
>>
>>221218285
It has to make sense within the context of the story.
Blatant inconsistencies break the flow of a story by making the events seem contrived and inorganic.

>its fiction so the writing can be as shit as possible and you can't criticize it
>>
>>221218285
Completely defying the laws of physics, engineering and human prowess, just to keep the story going, is the line between a movie and senseless bullshit.
>>
It's a round about way of saying they didn't like it.
>>
>>221218285
they've come to view them as alternate realities rather than drama

i watched a time travel movie with frens last night and they complained about it not being realistic and thats not how it would work in real life like duhhh its a science fiction time travel movie
>>
>>221218617
I can't really comment about it if I haven't seen the movie...
>>
>>221218336
i watched harry potter 2 the other day and they complained about the flying car not being realistic
>>
>>221218546
i like interstellar, there are many things in interstellar that make no sense

People actually have no idea what is "realistic" they just think when people tell them the movie is realistic
People call nolan movies "realistic" but what exactly is realistic about a guy dressed up as a bat?
>>
>>221219502
>>221219546
nice.
>>
>>221219643
The second punch looks retarded.
>>
>>221219643
to be fair that pillar probably isnt structural but ornamental and would be made out of plaster, pic related an actual place where people were scared the ceiling would collapse without support so the architect had to make fake columns that dont even touch
>>
>>221219407
no anon it usually goes like, watch sci-fi movie, then someone says that sci-fi gun is not realistic because it freezes you in time for 5 seconds or something and thats super dumb and stupid

there's a line when it's just nitpicking. How can the iron man goes that fast while flying, he would be turned into human goo by the G forces or some shit. Like obviously, we're ignoring some stuff so we can have a guy in an iron man suit flying around. or complaining about where does the Hulk's mass come from
>>
>le turn your brain off and let people enjoy things!
I refuse. If the plot isn't logical and lacks internal consistency, it's a bad piece of entertainment.
>>
>>221220075
>Why are they doing that? Why does the character act like this? That's unrealistic! We don't do that IN GERMANY!
>>
>>221219735
People like you are the reason people think nolan movies are realistic

Immersion breaking scenes are bad in movies because they take you out of the experience.
Nobody complains about Harry Potter movies not being "realistic".
People complain when characters in movies do retarded things that nobody in real life would do.
>>
>>221221395
my favorite example of this is The Fifth Element. It's completely ludicrous but it's so good that nobody* ever questions it, they just enjoy the ride.
*cue contrarian anons
>>
>>221219407
I still don't get this
>>
>>221221597
It's for trolling people who are afraid to acknowledge they're racist.
>>
>>221221597
What don't you get? The movie can have a BMW 5 series 530i in it. It's fiction.
>>
>>221221564
There's nothing wrong with the Fifth Element tho.
In the movie I posted the couple do consistently dumb shit like start having a conversation while they're running away from killers or as soon as they momentarily gain the upper hand they throw their weapons on the floor and have a conversation during which the killers pick up the weapon they just dropped.
That kind of shit is annoying and retarded and it happens all too often in movies now.
>>
>>221221705
yeah, I agree, it has internal consistency so it works.
>>
>>221221597
the fat fuck who played sam complained in an interview that people accepted dragons, magic etc but couldn't accept that he was still a fat fuck despite his character going on multiple month long treks through icy wilderness with almost no food
>>
>>221218285

autistic nerds moaning about potholes have taken over film criticism
