based or cringe?
Based kino.
>>221228792acting cringe, story kino, booba kinodx
Not my favorite Dracula interpretation, but it’s still super solid kino. It’s probably a Top 10 Vampire film.
Should've cast Johnny Depp instead of Keanu.
I saw it once as a teenager and hated it. It felt super cheesy and phony to me. I've been meaning to check it out again as I've heard some of the horror elements are actually decent.
>Oldman and Hopkins going full Shakespearean, chewing scenery like loons>Tom Waits, Cary Elwes, Sadie Frost, etc. hamming it up because they understand the tone>Keanu barely able to say his lines, Oldman almost looks sorry for himAnd yet, Keanu uninentionally grounds the film and keeps it from becoming a campfest
the intro scene is one of my favorite scenes of all time and i'll watch it just for that every time. there's so many great things going on the film besides most of the script and acting. the matte paintings and costume design were just great
>>221228792I feel like the only one who hates this movie. It’s so slow and boring and Keanu’s acting is awful
>>221228792Keanu pretty much single-handedly ruined it
>>221228792My favorite thing about Dracula is that he uses his powers to convince a rando he invited to his home that he has a non-suspicious number of servants by doing all the servile work himself. Which sort of implies that he doesn't have the means to employ his own servants or that he's so unable to avoid conspicuous behavior that hiring servants is unrealistic. Either way, it presents Dracula as sort of an oaf, which is funny
Extremely based
people like to shit on Keanu but Anthony Hopkins was absolute dogshit in this
>>221228792Amazing open. Fantastic practical effects. Even suffering the wooden efforts of Keanu and Wynona, the movie is still an easy 8.5/10
>>221228792Based
>>221228792Amazing, easily my favourite adaptation of Dracula.
>>221228792Very based
>>221229040is that the best look we’ve gotten of them?
>>221228792Silly as hell but a lot of fun.
Loved it in my 20s and I'll always have a soft spot for it. Lucy was best girl.
From memory it seemed like it was walking the fine line between being a masterpiece or being schlock.
Doesn't Coppola himself hate the film with passion?
>>221228792Costumes / sets/ art design : 11/10Score: 11/10Practical effects / makeup: 11/10Horniness: 10/10 (Belluci and Sadie Frost get their tits out, Winona more or less does in pic related and there's lesbian kissing and werewolf rape. My only complaint is not enough ass shots)Cast: 9/10 (Keanu *is* miscast but people overstate how bad he is, everyone else is a good choice)Script: 7/10 (made some pretty drastic changes to the Mina / Dracula / Jonathan triangle and made Dracula much more of a sympathetic character which kind of makes sense but also doesn't work perfectly. Supposedly they went with the script that played up the immortal love angle at Ryder's insistence)Overall a very, very well made film that is both somehow a mostly faithful yet not entirely faithful adaptation. Kind of hysterically overwrought but in a deliberate and amusing way. It's fucking awesome
incredibly sexual movie
>>221229040Thank you based Coppola
>>221229812>Belluci and Sadie Frost get their tits out, Winona more or less does in pic related and there's lesbian kissing and werewolf rape.Presenting it as an itemized list of 'actress X shows tits' etc is so completely stupid and vapid, you should not be allowed to discuss movies ever againyes this is a very very sexy movie, but you are not competent to explain why
>>221229882hint: Anthony Hopkins calling Ryder "child" while she plumps up her cleavage at him to seduce him is way more important than Monica Bellucci "showing tits". Ryder stroking the fur of the wolf with fascination while still so innocent and engaged to be married...
>>221228792Op got chased by bloody wolves frew sum bloo inferno
>>221228792Keanu and Winona are fucking awful
>>221230044So is gary oldman. His accent changes about 4 times throughout the movie. But the difference is Keanu and Winona are trying.Gary just didn't give a shit.
>>221229812agreed, I really disliked how they changed the ending especially, the book is ofc better but it's a masterful artistic interpretation
>>221228792both this and eggman's nosferatu are better than the actual bram stoker book
>>221228813Fpbp. >>221228893The production design for this film is gold standard. A visual feast for the eyes.
>>221229040>>221229812>>221229850How can other women compete?
>>221228879I hated it as a teenager, and love it now. It’s one of the most self indulgent movies ever made, and it’s a fantastic mess because of this.
>>221230044I HAVE SEEN MANY STRANGE THINGS ALREADY
>>221228792Movie based, chungus Keanu cringe
>>221228813Intro is pure kino.
>>221228792yes.
>>221229850wino should have done similar in every movie she's been in
>>221229928nigga, she was basically orgasming in front of hopkins while talking seductive and squeezing her tightly bound tits. any hetero man would be chubbed to say the least
>>221232703ottoman impalement is always great
>>221228792Both
>>221231261Why the fuck has that photo been made up to look 50 years older than it actually is?
>>221229058Sure Hopkins was hamming it up, but so would you if you had to act opposite of Keanu and Winona.
One of my favorites. The flaws like Keanu's bad acting just make it more cozy for me somehow.
>>221231261Jodie: “Hey, so I played a 12 year old prostitute in Taxi Driver.”…
>>221228792Cringe. Nosferatu and Dracula 1979 did it better.
>>221228792Great film. Probably the only good Dracula movie.
>>221228792>I have offended you with my ignorance, Count. >Forgive me.
>>221229040I was a big fan of Smallville as a younger man back during the years it aired.Saw all of the Alison Mack stuff, and her go to jail. She recently got out, and I started doing a rewatch of Smallville.Nothing serious, just casually going through the seasons, looking for signs of Chloe's actor being a BDSM dominatrix sex cultist, and while there are definitely signs, I ran across this little gem I had forgotten about for nearly two decades.Season Six, EP1. Fifteen minutes into it, Clark is trapped in The Phantom Zone, and a trapped Kryptonian, Raya, played by Pascale Hutton, is cleaning Clark's face with a rag. She gets up to scrub it out, and a similar scene to this sheer clothing woblling jugglies plays out with Raya's dangling bits. She's not wearing underwear, if you catch my drift, and she's well lit from behind with all sorts of cracks, crevices, and wispy hair for about six frames.Network television, and nobody caught this.Or maybe they did.
>>221228792cringe like the rest of the dracula films for not daring to stick to the novelthis one is the worst offender because it claims to be bram stoker's dracula
it's based outside of Keanu's acting
>>221228792Highly based, best vampire movie even with Keanu's acting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMNmL2B-rrw
>>221228792Based but the pacing is all kinds of fucked up. The movie should have been twice as long. Jonathans stay at the castle takes up maybe 10 minutes of screen time max.
>>221228792based
Completely over the top in the best way. Certified kino. Try to watch it in late October if you can
>>221228792You have to be either immature or a soulless, joyless husk to dislike this film -- it's ripe, operatic kino. I remember seeing it young (must've been a preteen) and feeling funny about the garden scene, when Dracula is humping Lucy in his wolfman form.
>>221229812Hear hear, although personally I have little issue with the eternal lovers plot, it only adds to the ripeness
>>221230060but he's a good actor at least
>>221239451I liked the implication that Lucy contracted vampirism partly through Dracula's dick. Van Helsing is introduced speaking about venereal diseases, "the diseases of the blood" and Dracula is shown rawdogging lucy before biting her. I don't think they show him feeding her his blood either.
Imagine if they had cast him instead of Keanu as originally intended.
>>221239601Depp was coming off of Edward Scissorhands and the retarded studio executives still thought he wasn't a big enough movie star. What the fuck were they thinking?
>>221239601That would've ensured this movie's legacy as modern classic instead of cult favorite. They really fucked up bad with this miscast.
>>221239682Star Power is one of those things where I just have to accept I think totally differently from everyone else. I rather like movies/shows where I haven't seen the actors a millions times already. But apparently the normoids disagree.
Based. but why Reeves?
>>221239793Young Depp absolutely had that Jonathan Harker energy too naturally
>>221238442she's wearing panties, but it is a nice camel toeexcellent shot overall
>>221228792every part of it is based except keanu whos horribly miscast
>>221239208the score for the whole movie is fantastic
>>221229587i think so, friend
>>221228792I used to really love this movie, but it aged like absolute shit. The acting is so hammy, everything about it is cringe.
>>221240248For it's time it was great. And the soundtrack is still great.Wojciech Kilar also did Ninth Gate.
>>221240248wrong. compared to most shit today this movie has aged wonderfully
the only bad effect is the blue flames, which were added in post so no wonder it looked like shit. They weren't necessary, either.
>>221228792Love it. Love the adaptation and score. Love the absolute chasm between Oldman/Hopkins and Reeves/Ryder acting skills.Still, the book is far far better.
>>221229040>Jay Kay unironically said: "waiter, my lobster is TOO juicy"
I remember seeing the devil armor from the start of the movie in a planet hollywood restaurant in las vegas
>>221228853That and Frank Langella should have played Dracula in this AND in Dead and Loving It
>>221228792dracula looks goofy but keanu reeves is goofier
>>221240638>Dead and Loving Itthe problem with that movie is its a restrained PG13 movie trying to spoof a batshit R rated movie thats already too entertaining and campy to really mock. dead and loving it is toothless
>>221228792Extremely Jewish and subversive if you compare it to the novel and its message.
>>221240733This movie is appreciated for its filmmaking technique, not the story
>>221240733calling everything you dont like "Jewish" is pretty lazy
>>221240774Perhaps. But the story changes still left a bad taste in my mouth.
>>221240803You would understand that the word choice was extremely appropriate in this case if you didn't have such a kneejerk reaction to the no-no word.
>>221240822no, 4chan just way overdose the whole everything bad is jewish and all jews are bad trope. nothing about this movie or story has to do with jews, you just like derailing threads with retardation
I still don't understand what they were going for with the Dracula design
>>221240879his costume when keanu first goes to the castle is supposed to look like japanese robes, and his weird hair is like some 18th century baroque wig. it was a strange choice, but memorable
>>221240086>pantiesI don't know how to tell you this, but there's no panties there, man.You have clearly defined ass cheek to labial fold to thigh visible.Underwear hides all of that.Even thongs hide that.Someone got the actress to wear that. Maybe the no underwear thing was her choice. Who knows? If the actress was wearing underwear, there would be all smooth planes. You certainly wouldn't be able to see lips and hair like you can in the video.
they made a movie out of the pinball machine?i can't see that logo without seeing the sections lighting up in sequence for the skill shot lolTHIRTYYYYY MILLLLION!!! (iykyk)
>>221240964>PinballI'm so fucking old, that I saw Bram Stokers Dracula in the theaters in 1992. But that shit is just fucking dumb to me. Who knows maybe I am so old, that I forget what it's like to be young.
>>221240398I'm pretty sure I saw it in the cinema and definitely had it on VHS. It's one of the only movies I look back on now and inwardly cringe for thinking it was cool.
>>221240803Hey, there's a lot of evil in the world, and israel pushes about 80% of it.I mean, something normal people see as evil and perverted is daily life for israelis. Most humans see anal rape of children as disgusting.Israelis see it as a boring Tuesday."What, you only brought me ONE Palestinian child to fuck, kill, and eat? And she is four years old? Dirty gentiles, do you expect me to fuck a hag and starve?"
>>221241130take your meds, brownoid
>>221240842I don't agree with him in full. But I completely understand his phraseology. You do too.
>>221240937You clearly see her white pants underneath the dress dude.
Why didn't Winona and Gary Oldman get along?
>>221241213I think Gary was having problems getting along with most everyone. Heavy drinking, and in the middle of a divorce. Life is a bitch.
>>221241169By your single statement, you have claimed that only shitskins do not like israelis. Is this your stance?Hate to break it to you, but there are thousands of skin tones that despise israel.Pretty much the whole fucking world.Hell, half of israel hates the israelis causing problems for the world. Yes, there is a large percentage of israel that just wants to get rid of the group of israelis that are causing problems worldwide.I mean, at least the muslims have the common decency to only fuck their own underage kids and stay in the desert. The jews think hey own everything and just spread their crap.
>>221241275This is Michaela Bercu. She played one of Dracula's wives in the movie. She is Israeli. While we all know to what you are referring here. I don't think this is the right board for it. I have been questioning our allegiance to Israel since the 90s, but I never thought I would live to see public opinion on it absolutely capsize and flip the fuck over like it has. Maybe make a Dracula thread on /pol/.
>>221240248
>>221241247He had a problem getting along with...everyone?
>>221241497I watched some behind the scenes footage. I think it might have been a feature on a long lost dvd, or something I found on YouTube. I never saw him be directly confrontational, but he just seemed to be in a bad mood all the time. I also think the costumes and makeup were fucking ridiculous (put anyone in a bad mood).>>221232703Like this weird red flappy clangrankorous thing. And in interviews he said he was drinking a lot and his dissolving marriage and divorce were generating extra pressure in his life at the time.

>>221240964>>221241039So you probably saw T2 in the cinema too, which also had an awesome pinball machine
>>221242065I did. That soundtrack was also fucking great. I never ran into a T2 pinball machine. Mostly super old ones from the 80s and late 70s. The entire idea of it just seems fucking dumb to me now. Still fucking hilarious.
>>221239601Would've ruined the movie.Keanu turned out to be the perfect self-insert character.
>>221228883Motherfucking kek
>>221228792Decent but not 100 percent kino. Keanu wasn't the actor he is now and gets upstaged.
>>221242413I think the last movie pinball machine i ever played was for the phantom menace. It was pretty cool.
>>221228792Mega cringe.
>>221243452You were embarrassingly filtered
If Keanu was replaced by literally anyone else the film would have been almost perfect. Gary saves this movie.
> Costumes by Eiko IshiokaAutomatic kino
>>221228792>CringeEveryone simping for the cheating whore, Mina Harker, because she can't stop spreading her legs for the man-beast that raped and murdered her friend, Lucy.Mina Harker is truly the fruit that not once during the film has demonstrated why her juice is worth the squeeze, yet the entire movie revolves around her.
