I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying this. I had rock bottom expectations. But it’s unusually well written and the acting is kino I think the smartest thing they did was a kind of Inversion of the story. Instead of just remaking the 90’s movie and the 60’s movie or even the book. They took the core story idea and altered it in an interesting way. I guess it works better too because if they did it the oriignal versions way there’s not really an easy way to stretch it out to multiple episodes.Max seems to have been legitimately innocent in this (at least of the crime he was accused of) and his defense lawyer collaborated with the prosecution lawyer to fuck him over. They then got married soon after. It’s still possible he was guilty but seems much less likely Also makes it weirdly MORE tense, because it’s legitimately difficult to say what Cady is capable of now, makes it more believable he can kind of harass them low key without it becoming an issue because by nature of the wife’s work as a justice advocate trying to get innocent people out of jail, she can’t exactly condemn Cady after the show starts with him being exonerated after somebody else writes a confession, leaves evidence and then commits suicide (beginning strongly hints Cady influenced her to do this though)I also like how this version of Cady almost feels supernatural. As if he has a way of “influencing” people easily. His danger is less overt violence and more how he can turn the system against you and cause chaos in your family environment.
>>221229872Also very interested to see how it works out with one of the lawyers kids actually being Cady’s child that’s not confirmed either but it’s certainly heavily hinted at and Cady believes it’s true.I always liked the story of Cape Fear, because it’s a unique revenge story where the villain has a completely legitimate grievance against the “good” protagonists who fucked him over, and he is now a singular being that transformed himself into this object that serves the singular purpose of vengeance. Especially when he is not just ruthless but very smart and uses the systems designed to fuck him over (the law, sympathy, family) to then fuck over his enemies. Also small detail but I think it was a good idea to give Javier Bardem blue contact lenses. He looks unnatural with blue eyes, very distinctive and off putting
For anybody interested in another psychological revenge thriller. I’d recommend THE GIFT.Fantastic movie

I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve seen incest interracial lesbian sisters in a tv show
i banged a girl in college who was some relative of patrick wilson’s, i didn’t believe her so she facetimed him when we were in bed and i told him he was the bomb in insidious which had just come out the year before i’ve told this story for like 14 years whenever there’s a patrick wilson mention or image
>>221230808Insidious was fucking retarded.
>>221230820i agree, i just didn’t know what to say because the situation was absurd
>>221230808that's pretty cool

Amy Adams framemogs Bardem
You know he’s evil because he’s zesty
>>221229904Normally I would advice you to take your meds but this does seem like a shill thread.
>>221229872I like that they kept the 90s overdramatic music cues. I like thatbis not grey ambient lighting slop but the downside is that it's overlit. In every day scene every room has 10 lamps and they are all on.
>>221229872I found it really boring personally.
>>221231199Was the negative stylised colors only used in the 90’s Scorsese movie or the 60’s one too? I really like it when they do it in the show. Gives it a cool vibe
