How did he do it?
>>
>>221231854
All the Jedi had plot-induced retardation.
>>
>>221231854
pretty much what this guy >>221231873 stated, he was just the smartest guy where everybody was massively retarded, the expanded universe (regardless of old canon or nuwars shit) just makes it even worse
>>
>>221231854
he wanted to stop yuuzhan vongs
>>
>>221231915
That cringe stuff isnt canon
>>
>>221231854
he was an accountant
>>
>>221231854
He had special magic that made everybody else retarded, see it's not bad writing at all, it's not supposed to make sense because of his global retard beam
>>
>>221231854
Chaos Tyranids were going to invade, he had to get it on
>>
>>221231873
uhactually

The sith spent 1000 years setting up the Jedi to fail. Everything from making them into Generals and many micro/macro political movies over the centuries
>>
he hired Coruscant's best stylist, then had him assassinated, so that nobody else could match his swag.
>>
its interesting because his apprentice Maul is from the species that came from outside the galaxy.
Now thats the plot of Ahhsoka that theres something out there.
Are they slowly working up to reintroducing the Vong

which was all rendered irrelevant by Force-resistant pain-loving aliens from beyond the Galaxy, who took over Coruscant in a matter of years.

if you lived in the Star Wars universe, all that 'Jedi vs Sith' and 'Galactic Civil War' stuff was just a drop in the ocean compared to demons enslaving you with their magic whips and invincible bioships.
>>
>>221232130
they are pretty much Deldar
>>
>>221231915
>>221232130
Star Wars needed something like this a new enemy faction, that was fresh and evil.
>>
>>221231854
The Dark Side clouds everything when it’s plot-convenient like >>221231873 said

How did none of the Jedi ever sense something was up with him? He should’ve a beacon of Dark Side energy.
>>221232106
> Are they slowly working up to reintroducing the Vong
This seems very likely, since the OT characters are old fogies in NJO just like the sequels.
>>
The First Order were the laziest idea for an antagonist faction ever but dear lord are the Vong cringe as fuck. The kind of dudes am edgy 14 year old would dream up
>>

>How did none of the Jedi ever sense something was up with him? He should’ve a beacon of Dark Side energy.
he was a natural master of the ability to hide his force energy
it's one of the main reasons plagueis took him on as an apprentice
>>
>>221232106
god I hope not, the vong were already a retarded plot point, Disney using them will make them an even bigger retarded plot point
>>
>>221232278
why? an invading armada from outside the galaxy is an awesome narrative for SW. Also they are force immune which solves Jedi power creep
>>
>>221232106
i'm just going off Wookieepedia (because fuck watching a cartoon show i have zero context for), but aren't they doing the !notVong and calling them The Graash or some shit?

they DID get Timothy Zahn back, he 're-did' the Thrawn Trilogy, but he wanted this whole extra meta-plot where Thrawn knows about mega-extra-secret enemies from beyond the stars...?

call me insane, but i think a 'galaxy' is pretty fucking big. imagine being a writer who looks at the Star Wars setting and decides there's not enough to work with.
>>
>>221232347
the SW galaxy is mostly mapped out and under the ruling republic cohesive so there isnt much room for a new powerful enemy faction to appear. An intergalactic threat is therefore a really interesting way to introduce an unknown powerful faction
>>
>>221232309
because they are some fags edgy try hard faction, and said force immunity is retarded since the entire point of it is that it affects all living creatures, its not even like you really need to worry about muh power scaling since said jedi were nearly wiped out by some test tube kids
>>
>>221232417
call me old fashioned but an evil faction should be obviously evil
>force immunity
So you have a mysterious evil faction that is an anomaly and outside the force. Its interesting and mysterious.
Jedi can still use force jumps and force pulls on other things

Jedi suddenly encountering aliens that can't be mentally influenced or manipulated with other force powers would up the stakes for the Jedi.

you could just do the opposite and not make the Jedi invincible. it's crept into the shows, but that was previously fanboy shit.

there was a mod for Jedi Academy, Jedi Academy Plus, where the dev made it so lightsabers blocked bullets 100% of the time. it was already a feature in the game, but there was a limited hitbox. he made it so if you shot a player in the back with a blaster pistol, it still played the block animation but the bullet just bounced off their heads (even if it physically hit).

i remember arguing with the dude on his server, how everyone used his mod and it made this first person SHOOTER more unbalanced than it already was. but he insisted Jedi were invincible to bullets: their lightsaber/reactions simply meant they could never ever get shot. over 20 years later and I AM STILL MAD, /tv/.
>>
>>221231915
>yuuzhan vongs
they should make that shit canon and put in the movies.
>>
>>221232490
well thats he thing i don't see an issue with nullifying their powers somewhat because they are master swordsmen
>>
>>221232463
>call me old fashioned but an evil faction should be obviously evil

the more people try to go
>what if Star Wars had like, shades of grey, maaan?
the more ridiculous the first ever Star Wars film (or its entire premise) looks.

you don't need a guy twirling his moustache who says 'i am evil', but you can definitely have evil GROUPS. they wouldn't say 'we're the bad guys', obviously, but they're conquering planets and maybe revelling in suffering a bit. WE know they're evil.

'grey Jedi' and shit is what 13-year-olds think is cool, while also thinking it makes Star Wars more grown-up and mature (it's Star Wars).
>>
>>221232510
if it takes an in-universe reason, the prequels had the whole 'diminished use of the Force' idea. so there's your precedent.

it's vidya/comic logic but there's a Force Drought and all Jedis/Siths have their power levels reduced by 50%. that alone would create conflicts, you'd have ordinary soldiers pushing Jedi Knights off cliffs since they no longer magically survive.
>>
>>221232463
>would up the stakes
they already faced the greatest stakes by having an actual embodiement of evil nearly wipe them out and forever threatning to plunge the galaxy into an endless era of darkness, it was due to Luke staying committed to their ideals and by extension being a shining example for his father to recommit to those ideals that made them win again, stake creeping just to drag out a story that should have ended is retarded, simply introducing bigger bad but he ignores the rules isn't creative
>>
>>221232564
Ok but now the Galactic Empire is defeated the setting can't just be
>and somehow the Galactic Empire returned again
And its Star WARS. A new war against a new powerful unseen enemy from intergalactic space is cool
Amd the the new Republic and Jedi have to rally to beat them back.
>>
>>221232564
what would you propose?

the other kind of 'stakes' would be a more personal threat. so not power creep shit, but 'Han thinks Luke has lost his way, so he joins the Sith Revivalist Movement' or something.
>>
>>221232562
> 'diminished use of the Force' idea

You keep using that word...
>>
>>221231854
Do we see a single scientist in all of starwars?
>>
>>221231969
Jedi seem smart because they can see the future or just let the force control them like a puppet. Shivs ability was to make an anti force zone around him so neither Jedi crutch worked against him.

I watched Rogue One again recently and the whole thing with him intentionally making a weak point in the Death Star that's specifically wired to blow up the entire thing when you shoot it is a fucking retarded retcon.
It was better when it was just "we studied the plans and turns out there's an exhaust port on the surface that leads right back to the reactor core", now it just makes both the rebels and imperials look like fucking idiots because turns out Mads set the entire thing up for them and nobody noticed.
>>
He secretly engineered a political crisis and used it to gain more power. Even his political opponents had to go along with it. It's happened many times in history, before and since the prequels came out:
>Bismarck
>Hitler
>Stalin
>Putin
>Erdogan
>Netanyahu
>>
>>221232169
No you dumb faggot. The Yuuzhan Vong are the antithesis of Star Wars. It would be like intoducing a race of people completely resistant to Suaron's influence to LoTR. It actively goes against the fundementals of the series.
>>
>>221234397
yea but they had lightsabers made out of snake
and you could put your thumb on the snakes buttwhole and it would turn into a spear that literally chews through you when you get hit
and remember when mark hammil did the commercial and then he was on the news when chewbacca dies
it was the biggest star wars had been in years
>>
>>221234397
It doesn't. It's actually the only way to continue the series in any meaningful way. Lucas made his "galaxy" the size of a medium city. It's stupidly tiny and everything meaningful is known. There is zero groups that would be plausibly capable of becoming the next antagonist. Something needs to come from outside the galaxy for it to be a surprise to the main characters. The Force would completely wreck any threat, so it needs to be immune or counter it in some way. They need to be scary and tough so they can actually be a serious threat for a long term story arc. Ta-da, you now understand the EU writer's thought process creating them. It's directly due to Lucas' children's story being too small and there being nowhere to go with it that's not just retreading the same big government versus plucky rebels story. You stupid motherfuckers always need to be spoonfed.

>turns out there's an exhaust port on the surface that leads right back to the reactor core
Was it retarded though? Small enough that nobody will notice, big enough to shoot a torpedo straight to the core. Death Star had little defenses against starfighters since it was moon-sized so it didn't really need those. Without Vader around, who was the best pilot in the battle, any of the Rebels could pull off that shot
