Gen Xers need to stop jerking off 80s movies it was, like, 40 years ago and cinema has come a long long way since.

I thought they complained about 2010s Hollywood having too many reboots and sequels.
>>

>cinema has come a long long way since.
I fucking wish lmao.
>>
>>221235342
they complained about sequels back in the 80's too.
>>
>>221235292
For contrast, in 1986 it'd be like talking about wartime Bob Hope movies.

I remember when I was a kid and read those Maltin/Ebert film guides and they panned every last one of these Friday the 13th/Halloween/Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Yep, nobody ever brought up Bob Hope after the 40's
>>
>>221235442
By '86 he was everyone's favorite senile grandpa who you just kind of humored when he did a TV special.

Siskel & Ebert really clutched their pearls about Friday the 13th. I don't know what their problem was. It's one thing to say they're crap movies (they were, that was part of the fun) but they used to act like the movies were going to bring down civilization.

okay...and?
people who grew up with him still mentioned him. I don't know what your point is.

Critics always hated slasher movies, being critics they jerked it to pretentious art film slop.
>>
>>221235494
In a way, I'm fine with that.
Slashers movies are slop. Like I said, that was part of their charm. I don't need a critic to reaffirm my taste.
Way back, I held the dopey illusion that critics graded a movie against all the films that came before, of which they supposedly had encyclopedic knowledge. So if they only like snooty art films, I could understand it.

It was when I saw critics liking any old junk and coming up with their featherbrained justifications for it. When everyone could see they were either being paid, or just wanted to seem relevant and hip with the times. Then, I lost any respect for what a critic might think.

the 80s was truly the worst decade of all
>>
>>221235460
just if you ever wondered Hope did his last ever movie that year it was an made for TV murder mystery with Don Ameche
>>
>>221235403
>we were always at war with eastasia.
In the 80s there was an homungous % of new shit at any level.
Shitty horror movies getting serialized on the side is literally nothing like what we have now
>>
>>221235644
Go to bed Tarantino
>>
>>221235773
but people DID complain about it. You can still find old reviews. What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>221235096
I dislike Part 6 and I never understood the praise it gets. It's too tame, almost no blood or gore, no nudity, dumn unfunny humor, annoying protagonist, kids at the camp, the start of Zombie Jason, etc. The only good aspects of it are the likeable female love interest and the Alice Cooper soundtrack. The first five entries are all vastly superior.
>>
>>221235292
You need to stop being a faggot.
Movies haven't been good since the early to mid 90s.
>>
>>221235096
The best one

This whole series is a bad Jesus pun.
