Nobody told me this was kino
>>221235324If it came out a few years later it would have been a mini-series or TV show... I thought it did right by the King canon and the Kubrick legacy. This shit rules: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgKWCAEdJjM
>>221235324It's "Let's take The Shining and turn it into X-Men." Depending on who you are, that'll work on you or not.
>>221235324Because it fucking wasn't.
>>221235324King is still mad that Kubrick's version of the Shining mogged his own book
>>221235324I said I was horny for the hat which you should have taken to mean kino.
It was good, until it wasn't. The final act when they lost all restraint and decided they had to recreate EVERY SINGLE iconic scene of The Shining was the worst. Only redeeming part was the conversation at the hotel bar.
>>221236680A movie/show can not quite stick the landing and still be very good. That's kind of the Mike Flanagan formula.
>>221235324>bringing back Nicholson's character for nostalgia sake without actually bringing back Jack Nicholson
>>221235324it got 80% of things right. the 20% they got wrong is pretty glaring, but not enough to ruin the film. race-swapping abra was completely useless. added nothing to the story. just done for DEI woke virtue signal points. also, i think a bit more time should have been spent in the hotel.
