Plagueis' only weakness was his trust in his apprentice and his arrogance in believing the Rule of Two no longer applied to him. Plagueis the Fool indeed. I like how the end of the novel hints that Palpatine was manipulating him the entire time, even before officially becoming his apprentice. Sidious really was that good. He could have killed Plagueis at any time.
