the circle absorbing another circle was the birth of Caine, it's not really explained what exactly the blue circle was but after he removes it when he gets back to the Circus he says he doesn't have as much power as he used to, so maybe the blue circle being thrown away was something like him removing his admin privileges, he can create things but he can't have direct control over the people in the circus (like how he tortured them all in episode 8)

Evangelion actually has nuanced writing that is backed by research on psychology and a genuine interest in other people.

They can make a series of things happening, which is good if you want clippable/memeable hype moments or "deep" moments to drive clicks, but the events do not build on each other in an interesting or satisfying way. There's always some big plot element introduced which might interest you, until you realize it's not here as a concept to be explored but instead a plot device to allow for whatever contrivance the hack writers need. For Murder Drones, this was the "Absolute Solver"; for TADC, it's the Circus itself (which is just treated like fucking magic for all intents and purposes, somehow this abandoned office building supplying the simulation still has power, and some gaming companies cracked mind uploads and sapient AIs); for Gameoverse, it's the conceit that "The worlds are all video games, brooo, we don't need to explain anything."

After that, it just got progressively harder to believe in, and started to feel contrived.

As someone who had a friend off themselves in their teens, this finale struck me hard. Brought back some rough memories, but seeing how the creator handled the topic made me feel right. Like it handled the emotional weight of willing to sacrifice yourself to save someone you love. And that ending just makes you sit with it.

I'm so happy there are still western-style animated series worth watching.
