Who was in the wrong here? I remember when this happened along with the couch incident and everybody calling tom a looney toon but my view on SSRI’s, depression and anxiety now mirrors his in 2005. lol

Tommy Boy is weird for sure, but he was absolutely in the right on this one

It's wild that people call Michelle Obama a man when Brooke Shields unironically looks like Bruce Jenner
>>
>>221245177
his measured response (when asked his opinion btw) was ahead of its time. Bruie was triggered but it was a sensitive subject because she had postpartum and medication helped her. I don't understand how people can be so stereotypically cruel in a highschool way. All he did was jump on a couch. All that one presidential nom did was say yeehaw. Even if it's a matter of the media pushing the narrative that we should shun them, I would hope people have more individuality to them.

>I think pharmaceutical industries are exploiting people by giving them dangerous psychoactive agents and lifestyle modifications are a better idea
OK yeah that's a very reasonable and valid assessment Tom and I somewhat agree-
>btw I believe in Scientology and anyone who doesn't like Scientology is a SP (Suppressive Person) and needs to be eliminated
...uh... yeah...

Scientologists think that there is no physical basis for mental issues because they think the real cause is due to thetans, which are the spirits of ghosts executed on earth billions of years ago in a volcano. I remember seeing the book years ago and wondering why in the hell is there a volcano on the cover? It just was odd and stood out to me. I saw a whole Scientology made for tv movie informercial thing, and it also showed their Dianetics book with the stupid volcano on it.

It's a veiled reference to thetans and the actual magical cause of misery. This is what scientologists actually believe, but they mask it because it's too stupid so they only tell you after you've sunk like 8 years of your life in the system.

Oh and they're fragant underage human traffickers.

you think mental illness and depression are caused by the ghosts of people executed billions of years ago?

Every time I go off on psychology and mood medications there's some retard in earshot who's on SSRIs and mood stabilizers who defends how it improved their life not knowing there going to be a fucking zombie from it after it frappés their brain in a decade. You can give 5 different psychologists the exact same symptoms and get 5 different diagnoses and different medications. It's literally all just throwing drugs at moods to make money. Might as well just take recreational drugs. Also, caffeine gives the exact same symptoms as bipolar disorder. You probably can't think of one person on psyche meds who doesn't abuse caffeine all day every day. It's literally a meme at this point like the iced coffee girl downing her psyche meds with a latte. What a joke. Not one retarded woman I've known who started taking SSRIs listened to me to try not drinking caffeine for a while and see how they felt. Because their anxiety is totally NOT caffeine related...

Anyway Tom is based as always.
>>

She said Michelle Obama looked like a man. So now the Left is saying she looks like Chris Jenner. Real grease ball shit.
>>
>>221248641
>Also, caffeine gives the exact same symptoms as bipolar disorder
No it doesn’t anon. Bipolar disorder usually isn’t the meme shit you see on tv or in jokes. It’s the modern naming of manic-depression. You get manic for like a week or month and get your shit together and become really productive and then get depressed and ruin your life the next day
, which lasts for another couple months or weeks. Usually there’s some stable period in the middle.

Tom Cruise could have had it all if it wasnt for scientology
He chose infamy over authentic

She was right about postpartum depression being a serious issue many women suffered in silence, he was right about how pills and therapy aren't necessarily the solution and they often just mask deeper issues.

Between the ages of 16-25 I went to four different general practitioner doctors with exactly the same set of symptoms. Got prescribed at least three different SSRIS and benzos (which I never took because I'm not a fucking idiot) and repeatedly told that I just had anxiety which is totally normal for a young woman and it would be solved by starting a lifetime regime of psychotropic medications. Then finally I went to a fifth doctor who said "Hey, these are first-day med school textbook temporal lobe seizure symptoms" and sent me for the MRI that found the massive tumor in my brain.

Clinical depression shouldn't be a diagnosis and GPs should not be allowed to prescribe psychotropic medication. Neurology is past that point in 2026. Humans are intelligent enough to know exactly what we need to fuel our bodies but cunts are out here taking ozempic because they neeeeed to consume their trendy new microplastic snacks!!!!
>>
>>221249099
Do they let you keep the tumor?

Is this explanation any more useless than what the psychiatric field has come up with over the last 120 years?
>>
>>221249181
The first thing is that it's a false dichotomy because Dianetics is both talk therapy and psychology itself. The reason Hubbard was so angry at psychiatrists is because they represented his competition.

Dianetics is just a very shitty combination of sloppy talk therapy and a lie detector. If you start refining it and remove the uneeded lie detector, you get something that looks more like mainstream talk therapy.

>>221249122
Nah, they strapped me to a table and zapped it with 192 gamma ray lasers. It was pretty sick.
>>
I used to have serious reservations about SSRIs, but I've also had serious anxiety disorder since I was literally like 4. I've been on SSRI's since last year, and it's like night and day. Just in general I'd have a 2-4 on a scale of 10 amount of anxiety at all times, and most of my life is just about managing my anxiety trying to prevent mental melt downs.

LONDO-
Seriously femanon, I'm sad that happened but happy you're ok.

My gf is on some kind of anti anxiety stuff and it's nuked her libido and her energy levels totally. She says it made her more stable, which I guess is true, but I honestly preferred the horny and crazy version of her. I sound like an asshole when I explain that to her though. Shit sucks.

>>221249395
This sounds like it could be written by my gf actually. Was your libido negatively impacted by the meds anon?
>>
>>221249395
I’ve gone back and forth being on and off them for nearly 15 years. Off them I’m more productive with my life but on them I can actually do things without replaying every moment and outcome in my head 3 dozen times before and after, and my orgasms actually feel pleasurable

>This sounds like it could be written by my gf actually. Was your libido negatively impacted by the meds anon?

First one I got on: for a week my dick didn't work. Then it was right back to normal. But it gave me bad dreams so I asked to switch.

Second one negatively impacted my libido. I ran out the prescription and are weening off of it.

I was just kinda winging it and not doing any research. /adv/ has a really nice chart showing all the SSRIs and the degree of side effects.

I have literally been having anxiety meltdowns since I was like 5, with my first clear memories in Kindergarten and doing public performances and having extreme freak outs. After being on SSRI's I thought "wait, is this how normal ass people feel every day?" because a lingering sense of doom, like a sword of damacles over your head is just what I considered normal for me.

My mom is almost identical and I'm sure I inherited her anxiety disorder.

He does have it all. He went 200mph on his scientology rocket powered motorbike face first into the dogma of Jewish Hollywood, faced a solid decade of ridicule and still is somehow the most bankable star on the planet and single handedly saving the action blockbuster from oblivion.
I don't know what he's really all about, under the hood or what whacky/quasi evil shit he's tangled up in privately but I respect the man for putting out non-stop watchable kinos for decades now. I'll watch the man in anything and I know I'm gonna enjoy it.

She was literally naked for the world to see as a child so the debate would be over pretty soon were it to start. She was also a genuine 10/10 in her prime whereas Mike has always been an ugly dude.

Are you still close to your mother? Cutting my covert narcissistic mother that emotionally relied on me and manipulated and disturbed me helped me so much. And cutting out grains and replacing them with meat
>>
>>221245177
If SSRIs work, they only work for a small percentage of people, but they are heavily overprescribed before any other avenue is explored. They just make me feel apathetic and emotionless
>>
>>221245177
Slopping on SSRIs instead of changing your lifestyle.

Women will never do this hence why they are stupid cunts.

It isn't and it does bad stuff to your psyche
>>
>>221252705
Because they go to therapists and present their curated version of their life's events to the therapist and they get told that they are doing everything right and that they are good people in every scenario with no constructive criticism. Think about the sopranos scene where janice visits her shrink. This kind of shit goes alongside the women's SSRI usage

The main problem, and I'm speaking from experience, is that 95% of the people don't really suffer from mental illness, in the sense, mental illness is something like schizophrenia, or something else that truly makes you insane. Or other stuff that's purely pathological.

Thomas Sasz famously wrote about this a lot, most of the mental issues that people have outside of true insanity, is a rational response to how society is. It's more a way to control people so they adhere to social norms. Psychiatrists can't change the causes, so they pathologize the reactions.

But there's other ways to tackle that that don't involve telling people they are sick. You can become a Cynic, or a Stoic. Even Buddhism is good way to heal yourself from this, which worked better for me personally, because I'd just rationalize everything away. But that never really touches the pain that's still there.
