>start a movie
>it's very good, impeccable setup, great visuals, compelling characters, good atmosphere
>have to turn it off because feel like I'm not in the mood to appreciate such a good movie
Anyone else have this problem? What causes this? Pic maybe somewhat related.

yes, try watching it with someone else in screenshare on discord

>antonym of everything described on pic
And what do you get? A psychopathic child.

What's the angle of demonizing all the traits that make humans humans?
>>

This is solid advice. For some reason add brains do better with company
>>
Yes. I've experienced this, like I'm not in the mood to give it the full contemplative attention it deserves. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for easy viewing slop I guess.
>>
>start a movie

lies

I sometimes experience the opposite; I often will put on a movie to watch sort of out of the corner of my eye while I'm doing something else, but if it's really good then I'll (unconsciously) stop whatever else I'm doing and focus solely on the movie.

Sometimes, I have ADHD too. I find if I'm not in the mood for that particular movie I pivot genres to something that requires less mental capacity. if I set my mind to watching something it's hard not to end up finishing something.

Yes it’s because you’re so used to being numb that being emotionally influenced is subconsciously intimidating. Same reason why you don’t ask girls for dates.

All kids are like this fairly often.

t. worked in primary schools.

>be a kid in burgerland
>they decide it's a "neurological disorder" and force feed me drugs
dystopic
>>
>if you aren't a good goy.. you are mentally ill!

it's funny any personality that isn't compliant and utterly cattle-like is demonized in american psychiatry
>>
To be fair, sometimes an inability to focus, even when trying, can make it difficult to function in daily life. It can reach a point where the impact is close to having dementia.

Yeah bro, a total psychopath. Sounds like a precocious child.

ADHD is just a marketing program to sell drugs

>calculating and manipulative

that's not how kids act

What if I have no friends?
But yes I sort of know what you say works because I can get so many chores done with a podcast on with people talking, provided I'm interested in the subject matter. But I can't exactly have a podcast on while watching a movie.

Man maybe AI robot companions could help with making it easier to watch movies.

>>221247462
I can't do this. I feel compelled to give every movie I'm "supposed to like" (subject matter or genre I typically enjoy) my full attention so I can give it a 'fair unbiased chance' and a proper analysis.

>>221247472
I don't think that's it. Numbness and emotional influence aren't mutually exclusive phenomena.
I almost obsessively latch onto emotional influences, which leads to numbness.

Like I've been listening to Bo Burnham's That Funny Feeling on loop for weeks now.

I also came here to say this.
