TOS movies > TNG movies > nothing else is realTOS movies are just so insanely kino and comfy (all 6 of them). The sense of camaraderie, and the chemistry between the crew is unbeatable.TNG movies are decent... but everyone besides Picard and Data gets shafted.
>>221249438Final Frontier is good though. And so is Search for Spock.

>>221253470It's standard starfleet procedure to test dangerous machines in main engineering
>>221253470I never understood why engineering is treated as the science lab in TNG and VOY when the holodecks are right there as an easy way to create makeshift lab equipment and whatnot.Kinda funny that DS9 was the show that had a dedicated science lab set early on but it disappears by like season 3 because of how few sci-fi problems of the week there are.
>>221258028Why would you even need a lab? When you need to scan shit, sensors are typically everywhere and then there are tricorders. Workstations are everywhere. A shuttlebay or cargobay would be the best place to examine hardware. Realistically nobody should take any potential hazard on board.

>>221258373its very good. i dont understand why its not loved like the rest
>>221258393It's mostly because some of the jokes are corny and the special effects are lacking compared to its predecessors. But to be outright hated? Come on.
>>221258028>>221258116There's dedicated science labs, we just never see them because main engineering is a cool set
>>221255645I like how all each of the TOS movies are unique. Sci-fi movie, action movie, adventure movie, comedy, and a whodunnit. Only Final Frontier tries to be the full package and that in turn makes it unique because the other 5 are more focused. I think the TNG movies and a lot of movie adaptations of TV shows in general try be the full package.

So, Patrick Stewart though it didn't make sense that Picard would keep a fish as a pet, as it implies human domination in an otherwise enlightened society; but Data, a soulless android, got a cat from somewhere and nobody ever said anything about it?
>>221259951patrick stewart is not a very smart man
>>221259951Patrick Stewart is a great example of why romans considered actors to be degenerate and worthless. A great shakespearean stage actor, yes. But ask any of these fart sniffers philosophical or political questions and you realize why they are only cool behind plays and scripts meticulously crafted by smarter men
Anyways I think V is a fine Star Trek movie, and the boomers who pissed and shit themselves over it were wrong.

Anyone else think it's weird that they had those episodes where Sisko was a victim of Earth racism in the past and it was treated with 100% seriousness, but Sisko's Vulcan rival who is racist against all other species is treated as a silly side story?
>>221262028if he stops posting it I will continue. We all will.
>>221261892Namely Adami.
>>221255505Be near a Talaxian, you're a victim of crime again.
>>221262168Investigating Vulcan racism seriously brings up a touchy subject, because objectively the Vulcans are superior to a lot of other species, particularly humans. Just from a biological perspective they outperform humans in many ways. The main contention against racism is that there's no basis in fact for it. Allegedly there's nothing that makes one human superior to another and they're all possessed of the same potential. But human and Vulcan? Totally different. Vulcans are just built better. The episode demonstrated it. The Niners were utterly destroyed in baseball by the space elf supermen who were their betters, and when the space elf superman points out that Sisko's coping in the end, Sisko's response is "damn right! Cope! Cope! Cope!" and the Niners chugging down glasses of Quark's finest undiluted copium.
>>221262479>The Niners were utterly destroyed in baseball by the space elf supermen who were their bettersThe baseline humans were, at least three of the non human Niners (Worf, Julian and Leeta) had superior physical abilities. While Worf is a Klingon and Julian is a superhuman Bajorans are not show to have any significant physical difrences to humans.
Got a bottle of kanar and some Ketracel-white
>>221262479The Vulcan-human bell curves are simply further apart. If the most retarded Vulcan can be inferior to the most Godlike human, then your same argument against real life racism should still hold true.

i was on imdb and I clicked on this thing because there was a picture of Weyoun and it was this blurb>Actor Jeffrey Combs played a great TV villain in the menacing Weyoun, one of the memorable antagonists from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." But according to Combs, the character wasn't quite as evil as fans of one of the most loved "Star Trek" properties may think. "I didn't think of Weyoun as evil, I think that's a mistake," he explained to Star Trek Monthly (via Memory Alpha) of the Vorta diplomat. >>221287017>>221289593Isn't that the point too? The Andorians have been spacefaring for about the same amount of time as the Vulcans and Shran is a decorated, experienced officer in the Imperial Guard. The Shran/Archer relationship mirrors that of Sisko and Dukat in many ways, with the main difference that they're both good people with different enlightened morals.
Could Ron Moore make a good Trek show today, or is he lost too?
>>221290024I'd argue he's our best bet provided he wants anything to do with Trek anymore. For All Mankind ain't my cup of tea but it's great Military Sci-Fi.>is he lost too?meaning wether he's a chud? No, very few creative types are. But he's a militarist and utopian, if Ellison is to hire anyone who can give us Heinlein/Anderson type Libertarian Trek, it'd be him.I'd be sold if they somehow got Ron Moore and Gaia Viola to be Showrunners together with Moore adding Liberal Militarist vibes and Viola channeling her inner Vernor Vinge to add Individualism and Techno-Utopian ideas.
>>221290175>meaning wether he's a chudMeaning whether he's like to write a show featuring a faggot Klingon and then post on social media about how brave it is to have a Klingon that sucks dicks, yes.
>>221290175>>221290175I hate remembering Vernor Vinge existed. I slogged through the dogshit sequel to Fire in the Deep and now we don't even get the story in that universe he was setting up. At least the prequel was good but both the stories are barely even in the cool universe he set up in the first book. I'm mad.
The actor that played the Negro Vulcan make 70 years today.

>>221294796It's an American Show. A Quarter of their forces are Obese, almost 70% are Overweight. It's a growing problem in armed forces around the world, especially the US and eastern european shitholes.
>>221294081Yeah, very respectful guys those BnB fellows are.
>>221276176this>>221280619If Europeans applied a homeland version of the Prime Directive, there would never have been an African slave trade to the Americas and manifest destiny wouldn't have happened.

>>221294081If she hadn't left the show, would Kes have just gotten progressively older from S1 through S7? Would she die of old age shortly before the show's end?
>>221295191There would have been an episode where an alien virus takes over her body and by the end of the episode the Doctor makes her human to cure it. The next episode would have a line of dialogue where Kes says she's still getting used to being human and then it is never brought up again.
They would not have done that
Wasn't talking to you

Kirk being like>I know we're supposed to do PD but this society sucks and I'm ending itwas so funny to me when I first watched that episodehe had no hesitation. morals override the prime directive.

>>221295625They should introduce her daughter, and call her 6 of 7.
>>221295191They already set up the possibility of Ocampa extending their lives in the Suspiria 'sode. In fact I'm pretty sure that eppy exists solely to leave open potential storylines (Suspiria is still out there because IIRC they always wanted to leave open the possibility of returning to the Alpha Quadrant at any point, Kes is given superpowers but has it taken away leaving open the possibility of taking that direction with her character, Ocampa are established as being able to live longer than 9 but Kes didn't unlock the secret so they can still decide later whether or not they want her to age).
