The relationship drama between the cast was tiresome, the gang were all parodies of their original selves (especially Fred, who was difficult to watch) and the show had little of the classic atmosphere, replacing it with endless millienial toned quips. Classic scooby do (Where are You? + The Scooby Show) was absolutely dripping in atmosphere, thanks to amazing background art and the great score, which both carried the show. The original four DTV movies (Zombie Island and Witches Ghost - which is the one with the Hex Girls especially) are as close to replicating that as anyone ever got.The entire franchise has been chasing the dragon from the late sixties to the early seventies, which, despite being formulaic Hanna Barbers schlock, has never worn out it’s welcome OR been successfully imitated. Mystery Inc is good. It’s well above average. I might even place it in third or fourth place. It’s up there with the best of the other stuff I didn’t mention. But like I said, I do tire of people overrating it.

I think it's Scooby Doo's most terrifying episode, genuinely. My siblings and I still can't watch the episode without getting chills, we were so young when we were exposed. You can't easily go to bed when the last thing you saw was a monster that specifically goes through closed locked doors and attacks you in bed. I think my brother used to refuse to close his eyes in the shower because of the bath scene.
