It became kinda aimless in the later seasons.They way they treated the whole "almost-had-sex-with-his-friend's-daughter" episode later on was just silly.It was a fine enough situation, showing how pathetic and desperate he was in his want to be adored and loved. It was a really shitty thing to almost do.But then they bring it up several times later and it's treated as if he had raped her. He keeps feeling horrible, the daughter panics when she sees him again, etc.

He didn't like that people were enjoying seeing him make positive changes so he changed one of the stories to show him strangle his co actress, then changed the story further to show a different outcome to the S3 arc. The writer was salty as fuck that people were rooting for BoJack to get his shit together and spent another 2 seasons making him more of a scumbag even though the story at that point was moving towards maturity and healing.
