This was one of the most comfy, charming, and funny movies I've seen in some time. It's just oozes with soul and warmth.
>>221266966Tom Hanks is the most disingenuous actor in the business. None of his characters feel like real people.
>>221267014I don't like the guy either, but Forrest Gump and Mr Rogers were pretty good.
>>221267014Anon that's how acting works
>>221267014well he rapes kids irl, sooo...
>>221267014>Tom Hanks is the most disingenuous actor in the businessAnon...
>>221267065the magic trick movies do is make us believe that a character actually exists. Tom Hanks has never pulled this off.
>>221267213>Tom Hanks has never pulled this offNever watched any of his 80s movies huh?
>>221267370He's the same type of guy in Money Pit, Big and Splash. It's all the fucking same.
>>221267386He's a drunken school bus driver in Bachelor Party. That's different.
for all the lavish praise this movie gets i thought it was just ok at best
>>221267386>He's the same type of guy in Money Pit, Big and SplashYou've clearly never seen Dragnet, The Burbs, Bachelor Party, or Volunteers.
>>221266966The funniest thing about the real story is that he lied about most of the stuff he did
I love it
>>221266966Reddit the movie
>>221266966>no t.hanx
>>221267213>>221267370>>221267386Agreed. I have never taken Tom Hanks seriously as an actor, he is always just Tom Hanks. Ironically his best role is Woody.
>>221267483Based fibber. It works for theo von, Joey diaz, and bert kreischer. The guy who wrote the question was also full of it.
>>221266966catch me if you can is a pro government propaganda filmthe final message is that the FBI is the benevolent good guys and if youre talented theyll hire you and use your knowledge for good it has pedo tom hanks framed as a glowie father figure
>>221267483The best "based on a real story" movies are the made up ones.
>>221269430>if youre talented theyll hire you and use your knowledge for goodThat's literally how every government agency, that requires skilled people. operates.
>>221269430>the people protecting me from gangs and terrorists are BAD because... THEY JUST ARE OKAYYou might as well say the film is "good guy" propaganda. Like, yeah. It's good that films are moral.
>>221269412>comedians play a character and make shit up to fit the characterShocking. Let me guess, you think Carlin wasn't playing a character either, right? Even Jim Carrey has said that Jim Carrey is a character. Everything and everyone in the entertainment business is fake.
>>221269501retarded glowie zogbot
>>221269583>Even Jim Carrey has said that Jim Carrey is a character. He said that because he suffered an ego death of some kind.
>>221267014>disingenuousI realize that this is one of the current flavor of the month words in the chud-o-verse but you really need to look up the definition before using it to describe random things you dislike.
>>221267014/pol/tard schizo who believes his own conspiracy theories.
>>221269754Dumb traitor
>>221267213he did with this character
>>221266966It's also almost completely fabricated for being a 'true story.'
>>221269412>theo vonbased, the only good podcast guy>joey diazatrocious, his shtick is unbearable.
Frank Abagnale, Jr.: Well, Carl, I'm sorry but I have to go.Carl Hanratty: [realizes something] Ah, you didn't call just to apologize, did you?[starts laughing]Frank Abagnale, Jr.: What do you mean?Carl Hanratty: [still laughing] You -- you have no one else to call![laughs louder]Carl Hanratty: [Frank hangs up the phone quickly. Back at the FBI, Carl happily turns up his radio and begins singing along. Later, we see Frank exit his hotel room - it is indeed room 3113 at the Stuyvesant Arms, proving Frank was telling Carl the truth]
>>221267483Not most - all. He was in jail for the entirety of the time the movie takes place in. He stalked a stewardess and stole her fatyhers checkbook and was tossed in jail. He never worked for the FBI, he never passed the bar, he never worked as a doctor, he never deadheaded as a pilot, he never did ANY of the shit.
And it's beyond fake. The irl guy is still a con artist
>>221267014Never had the words for it, but I think you've said it well.Always just feels like Tom Hanks doing a role.Never really makes a character come to life.
>>221267483>The funniest thing about the real story is that he lied about most of the stuff he didIsn't that the greatest grift of all though? It makes it more like the Weird Al movie than a real historical film which makes sense given the tone.
>>221269902not that anon but that would be a great way to describe his acting. He phones it in most of the time and it's clear it's just Tom Hanks playing a role that he didn't audition for. It's anti-acting.
>>221266966agreed, particularly the scenes with Walken in them are pure comfymaxxing.
>>221266966I turned this off after 20 minutes. I hated le dorky fbi agent doesn’t know how to arrest someone
>>221269754Life must be so miserable for you it's hilarious
>>221270738And?
>>221272915>anon discovers movies are fictionI have some bad news about lord of the rings...
